This article focuses on how to promote UK websites. It is generally acknowleged that one of the best long term methods of website promotion is to write articles. The articles are then submitted to article directories, with the aim of obtaining a backlink, and more importantly, attracting relevant traffic to a website.

Many UK webmasters, myself included, have been frustrated by the lack of traffic that US based article directories can bring to a website that is focused on UK issues.

In order to assist UK website owners, I have set up an article directory, which aims to bring UK based traffic to UK based websites.

Website promotion for UK webmasters and website owners is essentially the same as for our peers in the USA, with one noticeable, major difference.

All websites need traffic in order to fulfil their function. The best looking website in the world is useless unless people see it. In fact a website without visitors is like opening a shop on the moon, a great idea maybe, but destined to close soon.

Becoming an authority on your website topic, by writing articles and having them published, should be the main promotion aim for any serious UK website owner.

There are numerous websites, or article directories in the USA which fulfil this function for USA based sites, looking for visitors interested in their goods or services.

These article directories, work well, extremely well, and without them, many businesses would struggle to survive.

And there is the irony, and the problem, for those of us in the UK.

We can publish articles on the US article directories, but if what we offer is targeted on our home shores, we receive few targeted visitors.

For example, we may want to promote services related to the housing market, property, and mortgages; but these terms would make little sense to overseas visitors, and few people would be inclined to seek out our services, when many localised solutions are available.

So until now, this vastly profitable method of promotion has been of limited use in the UK. However, help is at hand.
