To Tag Or Not To Tag?
A tagline is a succinct phrase that communicates some of the basics of your brand. Ideally, your tagline is also memorable and helps your target audience relate to your business. If used correctly, a tagline can be a powerful part of your marketing strategy. Creating a phrase of a few words to uniquely identify you (or your business) in all of your marketing materials helps you to cover two of the major ways that a prospect can immediately gather information in your business communications - the prospect sees both the images of your logo and Visual Vocabulary and the text in your tagline to learn more about your brand. The advantage of adding a ta

Redefining Empowerment-A Case Study About Effectively Marketing To Teens Without Turning Them Off
Can we inspire teens to choose to do something with the same methodology that convinces them not to do something? For example, does the same decision-making process lead to teens buying $15 Starbury One basketball shoes and to not buying the designer $130 Nike Zoom Kobe I sneakers? Is there a common denominator in how teens choose to start smoking cigarettes and how they choose not to? Can we as marketers reach them at the pivotal decision-making moment to inspire desired behavior? Denver-based Cactus Marketing Communications thinks they have uncovered the simple truth about effectively altering teen behaviors by redefining empowerment as a marketing strategy
It might be almost blasphemous to talk about letting go of old brand equity and laying an old brand to rest, but there are times when change is needed. Reformulating and re-designing, or even overhauling an old brand can be a wise decision. If sales are flat and show no sign of growth, you’d better stop kidding yourself and hire a branding consultant.

Brands are an extremely vital element in your product and corporate value proposition. With communications so pervasive today, corporate branding and product branding are becoming fused as one. Corporate brands are increasingly powering product brands and product sales and that pose some substantial risk, as those sub brands can’t be as easily re-positioned when they falter.

    Brand Culture

As time passes, culture changes, new technologies and new competing brands appear and they change the perception of value that is available in a marketplace. Old sales propositions won’t fly in the face of 20 or more other competitors offering the same benefits and features. With cultural, economic, technology changes, and corporate changes, your aging brand image and brand equity may end up doing more harm than good. Your former branding successes could leave your brand and company stuck in the past.

How Much Does Advertising Balloon Signage Help To Get You Noticed?
It pays to advertise. In fact, it's a proven fact that if you don't advertise, no one will notice you. So it is no wonder that advertisers are leaving no stone unturned at having their says displayed prominently. And one immensely popular mode of outdoor publicity is the advertising balloon, soaring high up in the sky and swaying ever so gently in the breeze. You just cannot miss an advertising balloon, with its awesome size, wacky messages and of course, the very eye-catching graphics or the signage.Advertisers are very finicky about what signage they put up on their advertising balloons. Much more than the size, it is actually the signage on the adve

Can Ad Agency Creatives Refuse To Work On Certain Products?
So, you've beaten all the odds and you've gotten into advertising as a creative. Why even ask if ad agency creative can refuse certain projects? Why bring the party down? Because it's very important that you know...before you do.The first few weeks are exciting as you're toiling away on 'real' projects as opposed to the months you spent working on your portfolio. And you're thrilled to be working side by side with people who have names that you actually KNOW! It's a rush, no doubt. But suddenly a new creative brief comes up, or a new business pitch surfaces...and it's for CIGARETTES. Ewwew. Cigarettes. You know they harm people. You know wh

    Guanxi, Business and Their Madness
In China, the word guanxi is in the top ten vocabulary list of all successful businesses. Great Chinese businesses and business(wo)men just cannot survive and thrive without developing excellent guanxi with organizations of authority, such as the state-owned banks. But to a deeper extent, guanxi penetrates all manners of Chinese society. The school that you're going to has connections to high government officials, the club owner gets his loan from a friend that works at the Bank of Communication, parents has guanxi with a teacher (their intermediary) and asks her to ask the principle of a prestigiouis high school out for dinner, and so on and so forth. A good example of age related branding problem is in the realm of computer products. I recently bought a new laptop computer because my old one just couldn’t keep up with my multitasking and other work needs. At the retail store, there were computers with Intel or AMD microprocessors to choose from. The key matter wasn’t really microprocessor speed or capability. In the past, the Intel logo would have compelled me to buy only computers with their processors regardless of what other features were available in the computer. The Intel brand was clearly in a class by itself. Not this time. This AMD powered computer was low priced and had the memory I required along with other features such as a 100 Gb hard drive, high-resolution screen, numerous ports and adapters and a long lasting battery. It only weighs a couple of pounds and the AMD logo seemed to look better too. It says: AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology. 64 bits and mobile compatibility. Why doesn’t Intel mention that on the computer they have their products in?

Laptops are hot and prices are falling. My 15-year-old nephew just bought his first laptop on eBay, since they are cheaper and more accessible. So the whole “culture” of shopping and purchasing computers has changed.

Everyone is buying high-resolution screens and I was eager to ease my eyestrain from long hours of
