He goes on to explain each person can opt in to the service as they wish. He mentions that Google requires people to open an account and turn on their personalized search functionality if they want to use it. People can turn personalized search on and off as they wish.
Overall, this is a plus. If people are worried as to how their searches are conducted they can create accounts with their different interests under various user names. At least Google wants to offer a choice for more personally relevant searches. Keep up the good work Google!
