Casual Articles - Ten Steps To A Well Optimized Website - Step 4: Content Optimization
Online Internet Surfers and Their Preferences ing your website highly on the search engines. While all of the factors covered iMost online article writers tend to get a little upset over time at the number of article views or interest they draw from the Internet. It seems their best articles are often not read as much as the articles with popular current events and celebrity affairs. Recently I did a little study and wrote articles to see what kind of articles got the most hits or article views. I was pretty sure I would not like the results, but I went ahead anyway to see if I was correct. When I wrote stupid worthless articles titled something like; "I just want to get laid" or "I want great sex" I ended up getting some 300 hits in one week, then once they hit Google, they skyrocketed. When I wrote about NanoTechnology, Space Exploration, Free Trade, etc. I was lucky to pull 150 hits in three weeks to a month and even in Google with decent rankings, they did not go anywhere very fast. And the ones which did get one hundred and fifty hits; I mean that would be lucky. Now then it appears the stupid people go to the Internet to surf that is to say that dumb humans go onto the Internet, okay given. Unfortunately what it is also saying is the there are so many more stupid people than smart people out there, bummer. Luckily the more people who write more quality articles, will perhaps slowly change the trend and bring better content to the Internet these days. Think on this in 2006. How To Sell A Million Dollars Online Using Free Blogs Only Welcome to part four in this search engine positioning series. Last week we discussed the importance of the structure of your website and the best practices for creating an easily spidered and easily read site. In part four we will discuss content optimization.Considering what Blogs are continuing to do for many online entrepreneurs – and especially the prosperity they have brought, it is nor surprising that the popularity of blogs continues to skyrocket by the day.The problem is that most people have not fully woken up to the facts and despite the fact that blogs are familiar to many, they hardly realize half their potential or what they can do for them and their online businesses. The truth is that a free blog can easily help you generate a million dollars within a short period of time.To start with most folks still hold on to the fact that a free site cannot do much for anybody. The thinking that has prevailed, which sounds reasonable enough is that a free site is not able to portray a good enough image to attract serious bucks and serious sales. This thinking is not only outdated but also seriously flawed. To start with blogs are best used as referral tools. The job a blog does best is to refer traffic to a site, with a fully registered domain name and hosted by a reliable web host where the transaction or sale will actually take place. Secondly blogs have a super new image as places where you can get such useful valuable free information that the fact that a blog is using a free host has increasingly become irrelevant.I know people who not only make a good living from free blogs but are well on their way to clocking that magic figure of a million dollars in sales generated with the help of their free blogs. But don’t take my word for it, just go to your favorite search engine and do a search, any search and see how many free blogs appear at the top of your list of search results. If you used popular search terms then this could mean hundreds of thousan This is perhaps the single most important aspect of ranking your website highly on the search engines. While all of the factors covered i What is Guerrilla Marketing? ssed the importance of the structure of your website and the best practices for creating an easily spidered and easily read site. In part four we will discuss content optimization. The history of these battles is the history of guerrilla warfare. There are similar stories in business. One example is that of the "Marlboro Man". Before the Marlboro Man, the Marlboro brand of cigarettes was ranked 31st - almost rock bottom. After the introduction of the Marlboro Man, and the guerrilla branding campaign to promote it, Marlboro became the #1 brand in a multi-billion dollar industry. It may shock you how many of the "big business" names (that are now household words) started out as struggling small businesses. The history of the ascent of these icons is the history of guerrilla marketing.Until 1984, the principles of guerrilla marketing were known only by a select few people in the world. They jealously kept this information quiet with almost fanatical secrecy. And who can blame them? If you had some special knowledge that allowed you to rise to the top of your field, would you want this information to be made public? Of course not!The balance of power was dramatically upset by a maverick marketing genius named Jay Conrad Levinson - a man who is arguably the most respected marketer in the world. He is the man who coined the term "guerrilla marketing" and introduced these secrets to the average Joe (like me). His concepts are so successful that he has published 27 books on the subject (in 37 languages), his books are required reading in the most respected MBA programs in the world, and he is now the most widely read and respected author of business books in the world. And Jay did all this "from scratch". That is, the success of the "Guerrilla Marketing" brand is a testament to the very principles Jay himself teaches. It just so happens that he is also This is perhaps the single most important aspect of ranking your website highly on the search engines. While all of the factors covered i Podcasts - Entertainment Marketing reating an easily spidered and easily read site. In part four we will discuss content optimization. The web is being populated by thousands of podcasts. If you want a podcast featuring radio drama you can find one. The same is true for any type of music you want, comedy, poetry and more.Businesses are developing podcasts as a means of marketing their brand or product.A business podcast could be developed based on an interview with the manufacturer of a featured product, or it could be with the website owner on the value and difference customers can expect from their online business. You don’t have to immediately think of an infomercial when you think podcast either. The truth is a podcast should be something the visitor will feel is worthwhile for them to listen in on. The podcast can, and should, draw attention to features of your website and tools that are helpful to them. This can be knowledge based articles that compliment the podcast material or simply a products page that provide detailed descriptions of the item or items you discussed in the podcast. The site visitor has control over when they listen and whether they visit so don’t beg. You should simply provide honest information and let the visitors decide for themselves if the product is worth further review. The reason it is important to allow the visitor to make up their own mind is that when businesses try a hard press sales tactic they often find visitors will simply hit the back tab and move along. As hard as it may be, you have to learn to trust your visitors and their ability to make informed decisions.A podcast is simply a personal and entertaining way to present data to your potential customers. It can be added to your arsenal of tools that can be used in marketing your site and your products.I listened to a com This is perhaps the single most important aspect of ranking your website highly on the search engines. While all of the factors covered i Notable News - The Branding Myth tent optimization. How many times have you heard of seen advertising for a graphic design company that states that they do branding? If you think branding is a logo, letterhead, or web design with all the same look, and colours, then it's true...they can "do branding".Let's take a look at one of the world's best-branded companies, McDonalds. You may not like the food, but if someone says "golden arches" you know what institution they are talking about. Mickey D, McCoffee and Big Mac all bring the same familiar name to mind. You each may have a different reaction to the thought of eating there, but any one of the many product names will trigger the bigger picture.Think about the things you know from each of your McDonalds experiences: You know they have salty fries, the food is fast, and there is a system to everything they do. The staff often says the same things to you. You can get the same core menu items all over the world. If you take the time to think about it, you can up with a huge list of features you can count on at McDonalds.Doesn't that make the term "branding" when applied to logo, look and colour seem a bit of a misnomer? We know that the concept was born in a single location in small town America. How do you think that McDonalds developed their brand? You can get the book and read all about it, but you don't have to do that to figure out how to build your own brand. There is no secret. It's all about organizational culture. Brand is the personality your business has developed through your leadership and the systems you put in place. It's having a customer know that each time they go into your business, they will be treated the same way they were last ti This is perhaps the single most important aspect of ranking your website highly on the search engines. While all of the factors covered in this series will help get your website into the top positions, it is your content that will sell your product or service and it is your content that the search engines will be reading when they take their “snapshot” of your site and determine where it should be placed in relation to the other billions of pages on the Int
You have experienced it on numerous occasions. Reading an article or memo that leaves you yawning or, worse yet, scratching your head as to why you invested five minutes of your life in reading it. What did you do with that example of poor writing? You probably filed it in the bottomless basket, which is right where it belongs. But what was it about the article that turned you off? If you were to pull it out of oblivion and scan it briefly one more time, you would most likely find no spelling or grammar errors, no glaring inconsistencies or contradictions, and the author most likely knew enough about their subject to get the point across. Few if any professional people would be presented with anything less. But it was still missing a vital element, like a fine spice used to season a bland meal. And without that seasoning, it left a foul taste in your mouth. What was that element? The writing had no feeling. No flavor. No personality. It was dead. Lifeless. And it sucked the oxygen out of the room as it entered. Amazingly, writing like that is considered “good” in today’s mass-production society because it informs its readers of the who, what, where, when and how. But within a few minutes of reading it, it disappears from your active memory because nothing about it compels your mind to consider it important. Writing like that requires far too much effort to read and comprehend. So, it is more often than not forgotten. So, how can you overcome “good” writing and become a great writer? The key lies in learning how to infuse your writing with personality. To make it scream for attention, grab the reader by the collar and force itself in to their subconscious. How to make sure your wr
