As a marketer, the most important thing about Conversion is to get people added to your list. Even if someone doesn't buy from you while they're at your site, you want to get them added to your newsletter. Statistics show that most people will not buy on the first visit, but that many will buy later.

If someone doesn't know you, it's feel risky for them to buy something from you on the first visit. So what you really want to offer people a low risk way for them to get to know you. Newsletters are great for this, because the only information they have to give is their email address. As they read your newsletter, and they like your content they will be much more open to buying from you.

Here's a strong word of caution though. Treat that email address as a Trust. If you start spamming people on your list, they will un-subscribe and report you as a spammer. If you get people reporting your emails as spam, most of your newsletters will end up in spam filters. No one wants to be spammed, so don't do it.

To improve conversion at your site, offer things that likely visitors will find valuable. At my sites, we offer Free Memberships, Live Teleseminars, and Free Consultations. This brings a lot of great value to our visitors immediately and in the future.
