The 'Friendliest Airport in the World'
Singapore’s Changi Airport has been rated #1 in the world so many times the trophy cabinet is bulging. They’ve hit #1 in efficiency, speed, shopping, security, safety and ease of use.But the category called ‘courtesy and friendliness’ has eluded Changi Airport’s capture. This is not surprising, perhaps, given that the local culture has grown in a city known more for ‘trading and exchanging’ than ‘providing gracious warmth and hospitality’.Now the airport is facing this challenge head-on. The depth and magnitude of commitment are impressive: a brand new ‘service promise’ with high impact launch program for 7,000 staff, customized full-day training for 3,000 frontline staff members, monthly courtesy awards, customer feedback kiosks, service improvement contests, mystery traveler audits, constant reminders for staff (and customers) with posters, badges and banners, newsletter articles, special announcements and more. This is total commitment, typical of Singapore Changi Airport. With such intensity and clarity of focus, the program will surely work. Key Learning Point -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changing a culture takes time and effort, energy, creativity and focus. It's not a project to do halfway, not for the half-hearted. CCTV - What Are The Advantages? How Do I Decide, What I Need?
Closed circuit TV systems have been available for many years, they have also undergone some almost miraculous transformations in recent years. What used to be very expensive, cumbersome and hard to configure systems are now very reasonable, easy to configure , and easy to maintain, and they provide much more versatility and usefulness than just a few years ago. When choosing system components the first decision you need to make is what are you using it for. The primary uses for CCTV systems are surveillance, traffic control, theft, shoplifting, employee theft, and/or robbery deterrence, and identification. Surveillance and traffic control probably do not require color cameras, black & white may actually provide better resolution. However theft, shoplifting and/or robbery deterrence and identification may require color cameras, if there is an arrest and prosecution a court will require color to make positive identification, on a black & white recording a red sweatshirt would appear to be gray.Next you need to decide what exactly do you want to see, how far away is it, what are the lighting conditions, is it indoor or outdoor, how wide a viewing angle is desired? The answers to these questions will help you choose the correct kind of camera and lens combination, the correct mounting or enclosure, even what kind of cabling needs to be provided.Deciding how you will view, record and store the information is next on the list. The choices for viewing include a central monitoring point, multiple monitors, single monitors that can show multiple images, on your c
If you've got a digital business that really only requires a connection to the net to do business, your concerns boil down to having a cost structure that maximizes your profit while providing you with a high quality of life. The problem is that most of the really enjoyable places aren't exactly what we'd call "low-cost" and in order to live in a nice place you're business will have to really produce, or you'll have to hold down a job while you try to build your internet business. Letting Them Use Plastic
Obtaining merchant status will help to increase your sales. Consumers are becoming creatures of convenience; when dealing with businesses—large or small—they desire ease of transaction. That most frequently translates into the ability to pay for services rendered or product purchases via credit card. Small businesses are often denied merchant status because they can’t prove to the bank that they are good risks. You must establish and demonstrate a track record before a bank or independent sales organization (ISO) will agree to back your business. Even today, some banks also hesitate to provide merchant status to companies without storefronts, to mail order firms or to individuals with a past history of personal or business bankruptcy. Although thankfully, it is getting easier today than it was even 15 to 20 years ago. In this article we will help you to understand the reasons you may not be able to obtain merchant status, so that we can help you find ways to more favorably present yourself and your business as candidates for merchant status. 1. Start with your own bank. When shopping for a merchant account, the first place to stop is your own bank. When banks look at an application, they consider three critical things: the principals, the product and the process. In other words, they need to know about you, what you are selling and how you are selling it. Be sure to take the time to carefully develop your proposal. It can really pay off. Show your bank that you’re serious about obtaining merchant status and you take your business ve

A landscape business is one business that you may want to be concerned with. In the spring, summer, and fall, you will have plenty of business, however, the winter gets very slow. You will need to plan what you can do to make sure that the business can grow and yet make it through the winter season. Some landscape businesses don’t have to worry about the winter because they aren’t really hit with a hard winter. That is something that you should think about, as well as other things. When it comes to any business, you have to have a business plan or layout before you invest any money or ask anyone to invest money into the business. When it comes to a business plan, you have to cover every possible aspect of the business. You will have to consider what you would do in cases of winter or off-season and how the company will get going year to year. Most small businesses don’t even last a year. If your business lasts a year, you’re more than likely to close with five. Once you have a business going for five years, your safe a little, but you should always have the notation that the business could collapse at any moment. However, if you start strong, than you may have a business that flourishes.First, you need to make up a business plan. When you come up with the business plan you will start to notice your SWOT analysis and if you should invest money. SWOT means Strengths Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. Based on your SWOT you will understand rather your business is a good solid idea or if you should rearrange things. After your SWOT, you have to t

    The Law and Order Approach
It’s almost a given that at any time in the United States and around the world some form of Law and Order can be seen on television. The show’s creators have done a tremendous job of franchising this brand. So what can we, as entrepreneurs and small business owners, learn from this example? Once we establish ourselves in the marketplace for our first line of business, we should not be afraid of branching out.Just look at the Law and Order model. The creators waited until they were a mainstay in viewers’ weekly television fix. Once they were established they brought out SVU. Then of course came Criminal Intent, the now defunct Trial By Jury and the latest installment Conviction.Let’s see how this could apply in the real world. I’ll use my business as an example because I’m very familiar with it! My main focus is on my virtual assistant business. I have spent a lot of time promoting it, tweaking my website, writing articles such as this one, joining virtual assistant associations and hanging out in various small business forums. Now, I have had very excellent results and seen nice profits and growth. However, I am now at a point where promotion of that site is not a full time endeavor. So having the type A personality, being a bit obsessed with work like most small business owners I know, I was looking for additional places to invest my time and effort. The first step for me was to think of ways to use what I’m already doing to further grow my empire(well, maybe not quite, but I like to think big!)My first new venture or as I like to call it my SVU
b while you try to build your internet business. At some point this juggling act gets out of hand and your business will demand enough time that you can no longer hold down a job to pay the bills. If your internet business isn't producing enough to pay the bills, your only options are to downsize and cut expenses, burn capital in hopes that your business will produce more later on or give up on the business altogether.

Those can be hard choices. Our vote is to minimize expenses and save as much money as long as possible. The lower your burn rate the longer you last, and thus the better your chances of success.

For many people, this means trying to find a low-cost location that still provides high-quality infrastructure, and that usually means living som
