Opening A Dollar Store - Inventory Replenishment in a Low-Inventory Situation
Situation may arise when you are opening a dollar store in which inventory levels have fallen way below acceptable levels. It does not matter what the reason, it is important to address the situation as quickly as possible. The obvious way to address the problem is to order additional merchandise to place on the sale floor. However, there is more to it than just ordering merchandise. It is important to order the right merchandise for the store. It is important to order merchandise that has established a history of strong sales for the store. When opening a dollar store merchandise that previously sold well needs to be brought back first. If you have access to previous sales records, invest money in inventory by sales history. Start with the highest selling department and replenish
lot of work and even more patience. In my experience, setting up links on forums and internet classifieds was almost a total waste of time. At most, I could expect to make a few sales per month if I done everything correctly. Article marketing worked a little better, generating between fifteen and twenty (and sometimes up to thirty) sales per month. However, this was hardly enough to merit quitting my job. Moreover, the only way that I could achieve such a level of sales was if I wrote at least three articles per day, each of
Motivating Your Sales Team to Achieve More
If you are a sales manager you know it is difficult to motivate your sales team, but you also know that your ability as a coach is based on their ability to succeed in sales. The mark of a good sales manager is one who is making less in salary than their least performing sales person. But how you develop a motivational plan to help your sales team achieve more? One way to do this is to redefine the sales goals in terms stated more readily understand in their personal lives. Below is an excerpt from a speech I gave to a sales management class, as I explained to them how best to talk to their salespeople in terms they could visualize and thus work to achieve those goals;“I need month-by-month break-downs, names of accounts, material objects you want, family free time increases, c
Affiliate marketing is fast becoming the most popular work-at-home option. Put generally, it involves setting up links on the web which direct prospects (potential customers) to websites. If the prospects make purchases, the person who set up the links (i.e., the affiliate) will be credited with the sales and will therefore receive a commission for each sale.

The allure of affiliate marketing is the apparent simplicity of the whole procedure and the prospect of making a generous, home-based living through such simplicity. Affiliates don’t have to deal with customer enquiries, credit card processing, postage and packaging, refunds, or anything of that nature. All of that hassle is the responsibility of the business or website owner (otherwise known as the merchant). The affiliate’s only task is to send traffic to the merchant website and collect the resultant commissions. But is affiliate marketing really that simple?

    The Hardships of Affiliate Marketing

The simple answer is “No”. Affiliate marketing is generally very difficult. As such, most people who venture into affiliate marketing give up within a few months. The main reason for their giving up stems from a consequence of their having a low level of understanding of the profession. In order to make it as an affiliate marketer, one must learn how to advertise effectively on the web, and this is where most people fail.

The Tedious Free Methods of Affiliate Marketing

Advertising on the web can take many guises. Forum marketing involves setting up links to products on relevant forums which direct prospects to merchant sales pages. Classified marketing is concerned with doing the same, except setting up the links on a classifieds website. And article marketing involves writing about a product, including a link to the product, and posting the article on an article website. These methods, along with setting up links on your own website (which is not an option for many affiliates), are the main free methods of affiliate marketing.

The free methods of affiliate marketing can work; however, they require a lot of work and even more patience. Efficient, Effective Meetings
Introduction Most professionals report spending between 15% and 30% of their time in meetings. How about yourself - do you know the inside of the conference rooms better than you know your office? And of the time that you spend in the meetings, how much of it is really valuable to you, and how much does it cost? Consider a typical status meeting consisting of one Vice President who earns $100,000 per year, and six Directors who earn $75,000. If the meeting runs for one hour, it costs the company about $1500 in fully loaded personnel costs. If the group meets once per week, the status meeting costs the company $75,000 per year - or the cost of one Director’s salary.Kinds of Meetings Think for a moment about the different kinds of meetings that

How Much Money Do I Need to Spend on Advertising?
Q: I've never really done much advertising for my business; I've always relied on networking and word-of-mouth. Now I'd like to launch a small campaign, but I'm frightened it will cost a lot of money. How can I figure out where to start?A: The first thing you must do is calculate your minimum and maximum allowable ad budgets:· Step 1: Take 10 percent and 12 percent of your projected annual, gross sales and multiply each by the markup made on your average transaction. In this first step, it's important to remember that we're talking about gross markup here, not margin. Markup is gross profit above cost, expressed as a percentage of cost. Margin is gross profit expressed as a percentage of the selling price. Sell an item for $150 when it only costs you $100, and your markup is 50 p

    Create Your Dynamic Elevator Speech
So, what’s an elevator speech, and how do you get one? What Is It?An elevator speech is a short (15-30 second, 150 word) sound bite that succinctly and memorably introduces you. It spotlights your uniqueness. It focuses on the benefits you provide. And it is delivered effortlessly.Elevator speeches are intended to prepare you for very brief, chance encounters in an elevator. But elevator speeches are not just for elevators! You should use it whenever you want to introduce yourself to a new contact. That could be in the supermarket, waiting in line at an ATM or when you get your morning latte. So, who better than you to describe with passion, precision and persuasiveness what you do? A great elevator speech makes a lasting first impression, sh

At most, I could expect to make a few sales per month if I done everything correctly. Article marketing worked a little better, generating between fifteen and twenty (and sometimes up to thirty) sales per month. However, this was hardly enough to merit quitting my job. Moreover, the only way that I could achieve such a level of sales was if I wrote at least three articles per day, each of which had to be very persuasive, and each of which had to be written in such a way as to pull in maximum organic traffic by exploiting the high-ranking and frequently spidered nature of the article website. This required knowledge of keyword research, optimal keyword densities and general search engine optimization (SEO). If such parameters were not met, the whole article would be a waste of time and effort.

Another headache inherent to article marketing involved the stringency by which articles were monitored before being accepted by the article websites. The articles could not be blatant or even subtle promotions of products. If so, they would be rejected.

The Difficulties of the Paid Methods of Affiliate Marketing

The paid methods of affiliate marketing can also be very difficult. More importantly, failure at using such methods not only costs time and effort but hard-earned cash.

The easiest paid methods of affiliate marketing include paying to have your ads displayed in newspapers and ezines. These require an ability to write effective sales copies despite being bound by strict word limitations. Another, far more effective (yet also more difficult), paid method is to use pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. This involves setting up short ads on search engine PPC services which are displayed to search engine users if they conduct a search using a keyword which you have bid on. Every time someone clicks on your ad, you are charged a small fee (hence “pay-per-click”), the amount of which depends on how much you bid on the keyword. Therefore, if one wished to make money using this method, they would have to make sure that they made more money with the sales than they lost with the clicks – and this is where the difficulties come in.

PPC advertising can accurately be described as “a mass murderer of affiliates” for the simple reason that it generally takes a lot of time to get even close to being able to use it proficiently and in a cost-effective manner. Before affiliates get to this kind of level, the PPC service usually eats them up and spits them out! Even so, affi
