Confidential Operations Manual and Updating Manual in Franchise Companies One of the strategies that franchises often employ to maintain the integrity of the franchise system and insure control and consistency throughout the franchise company is to use a standardized confidential operations manual. Yet, we all know that the only thing that is constant use change. This is why the confidential operations manual in any franchisor company must be constantly updated. But, how do you know if all the franchisees have been diligent in updating their manual, so that everyone is doing everything the same way? Many franchisors today put the manuals online in a company intranet system and the company itself makes the changes. This is a good strategy, however opens the door to downloadable theft of proprietary information. In our company we decided to use paper manuals, in binders, whi It made sense and it's very important when you're driving a vehicle -- you must see the whole picture. Can I Paint You A Picture? So I see you have a successful business over there and that is great considering the failure rates in businesses both small and larger more well-capitalized businesses. Have you considered why customers buy your products or your services; I mean what do you really do for your customers that the competition does not, will not or cannot?Have you considered that? You should know the answer to that if indeed you are in touch with your customers. So then, now you may answer the question and tell me; What is it that you really do for your customers and why have they chosen you over your competition? Have you yet considered what it is that you do for your target market and current customers, which keeps driving them back to spend more money with your company? Have you surveyed them to find out what they think Can you spare a moment? I want to paint you a picture. It won't take long and you might learn something as we go along. But I am not making any promises! It's about the web and the internet. First, I want to ask you a simple question. Do you have a clear concrete picture of the web or the internet in your mind? That is, can you picture it? Can you visualize it? Would you have any trouble explaining it to a group of small children? How would you describe it? How would you get them to picture it in their minds? We sit at a computer, we go online and we get stuff! Let me give you some background on why I ask this question. There were several times in my life, which readily come to mind, when I was made to consider the big picture. First time, when I was taking driving lessons and the instructor kept repeating, make sure you get the big picture -- all the cars, all the intersections, what's ahead of you, what's behind you ... see the big picture. Some students in business and economic classes at major Colleges and Universities are doing research on outsourcing. Very smart thing to study indeed. Outsourcing is not a bad thing as many Unions believe. It means efficiency and is good to bring the world closer together in this way. One very interesting case study is Sara Lee, which sold all its factories and then contracted others to make their product. If you look at companies like HP and the way they have their products made all over the world you can see the same thing. Also now Boeing does the same thing too. You see it also makes sense from a sales perspective, as if you outsource all these things to other places then they will want to buy your aircraft over another company which does not provide jobs or have factories in that country you see?concrete picture of the web or the internet in your mind? Something that happened in your company such as layoffs? Or is it personal – they don’t trust you? Don’t rush out and create a new program or incentive scheme until you know the nature of the problem.Determine what the implications of lower trust are. What is missing as a result? Does customer service or quality suffer? Is loyalty lower? Now you’ve got the data you need to begin to address the problem. Be wary of window-dressing solutions. Don’t try to pump people up or paint over the problems. You’ll just waste your money and will risk adding to the cynicism. The only way to rebuild trust is to focus on the level of trus Is there any need to view the whole picture? The big picture? Let me give you some background on why I ask this question. to mind, when I was made to consider the big picture. Is there was one single phrase that you could use with all of your prospects that would turn them around to consider buying your product or service? There is.I learned this phrase several years ago and it became a daily staple of my search practice. The phrasing isn’t as important as much as the energy that you need to say it, so follow these three steps... to becoming more powerful in your persuasion abilities.First, understand and believe in the value of your service. Will what you sell make a difference in the lives of others? It must. The first sale is really to yourself. If you have any doubt about what you are ‘pitching’ to your prospect, then it will come across. If you have a tough time with this then forget about your commission. Just think about the contribution. Imagine a Community with Free Fundraising I close my eyes and imagine how free my community would feel if all of its fundraising needs were consistently met. Every child could be adequately clothed, nutritiously fed, and attending a well-equipped school. Local sports teams, the Boy Scouts, etc. could be more affordable – maybe even free -- for struggling families. My hospital could have more beds, staff and equipment which would mean reduced waiting time for scheduled surgeries, or in their emergency waiting rooms. Local cancer clinics, respite care, and health research projects could all improve the quality of life for my whole community, thanks to adequate funding for salaries, research, and maintenance. They could even save more lives.I could go on and on; the list is endless. But you get the picture. It made sense and it's somewhat important if you want to create a masterpiece! Recently, as I was making a few changes with one of my websites... it suddenly occurred to me. Am I seeing the big picture, the whole picture when it comes to my website...the whole picture when it comes to the internet? I realized in this situation, I had not really examined the big picture at all. What makes up the internet, where it's been, where it's going? The big picture. The whole picture. A clear picture. Quick, ask yourself, what is the web? Can you picture it in your mind? Can you visualize it? Can you completely explain it to a small child so he or she would completely understand it? UUURRRR Time's up! Maybe, it would be helpful to paint a clear picture in your head. Help you visualize the web. To see the big picture. The internet had a specific beginning or inception. Everything has to be born! It all started with the time-sharing of IBM computers in the early 60's at universities such as Dartmouth and Berkeley in the States. People would share the same computer for their computing tasks. These activities led to J.C.R. Licklider and his ide
