New Product Launch -- Questions to Ask Before Going Live: Part 2 as the new face of democracy – at long last, the voiceless had a voice. In our last segment, we spoke about the first six of twelve questions you should ask yourself before "going live" with your product launch. Here are the final six.7) Have you priced your product or service competitively? Not too high, not too low. The price for which a product is offered may determine the perceived value by the customer. If you underprice your product, it is entirely possible that your customer will decide that the product is not worth purchasing. If you overprice it, you may not get the sales you want. Here's the solution: test different prices. Keep the one that results in the most sales.8) What are the growth and "back-end" sales possibilities? Can you sell the same or other products to your customer thereby creating repeat sales? This is one of the keys to increasing sales revenues. With consumable products such as soft drinks, you can sell the customer the same thing over and over again. With non-consumable products, such as an office desk, you can sell them complimentary items. In addition, after their first initial purchase, what other products can you sell them lat Of course, even in those heady days, we all recognized some fundamental practical and technological limitations which really threw a spanner in the works for the ‘New World Orderless’ theory. To begin with, the great majority of the world’s population didn’t even have access to a computer, The Price, Cost Value Relationship For a while there, the Internet and the World Wide Web showed great promise. They whispered sweet nothings in our ears, promising to be the voice of the marginalized, the new democracy, the great equalizer. If I were to ask a room full of 1000 salespeople (I have done it) what is the number one thing consumers want today, what do you think their answer would be? You guessed it – Lower Price. And second? Quality? Right again, and third? Service. Bingo. Now, let’s switch scenes for a moment. I now have a thousand consumers or business buyers in my audience, and I ask them the same question. What do you think my answers would be?Let me give you the most frequent answers I get from this group. 1- Service 2- Quality 3- Lower Price. Well, folks, we seem to have a perceptual difference in what people want and what they tell salespeople they want. How can you account for that difference?I believe it is for the following reason. It is a matter of definition.Price is defined as what we pay for something. We write a check, use cash or a credit card, and our account is debited.Cost is what we pay for what we have bought over time. In other words, buy a cheap car and you will have bigger service bills and inconvenience. You have a higher cost over time than the lower price you paid. What do most consumers say they want – in your opinion? Yes, low price. But, what do you think they really wan But it wasn’t to be, for the Internet has a new master. No, it’s not Google. No, it’s not Microsoft. And no, it’s not even good ole’ Uncle Sam. The Internet’s new master is bigger than they’ll ever be, and far, far older.Selling high-tech products and services is much more difficult than selling most other products and services: Truth, or just a popular myth?Selling anything that is not a known commodity can be difficult. However, most of the difficulty is created by salespeople themselves. Here are some of the reasons why high-tech Sales seems so difficult - and how the typical selling process just reinforces that myth.1. Most salespeople are unable to describe their product or service clearly and briefly enough. Most people take 20 to 30 seconds to decide whether they want what the salesperson is selling. Prospects get frustrated and annoyed at the salesperson who doesn't communicate with immediate clarity. An effective prospecting offer should ideally be about 45 words. It takes many top salespeople about 2 hours to design an effective and concise prospecting offer. Most salespeople don't even know where to start.2. Pressing prospects for an appointment before they are ready to buy greatly reduces the probability of ever getting the sale. Most salespeople believe that they should convince any prospect that has an apparent need for their products and services to buy. However, most prospects Meet the master The Internet’s new master is the same master who holds the leash of all traditional commercial media. The Internet’s new master is money and power. The island is 166 square miles in size and has a population of approximately 260,000. Barbados is known for the friendliness of its people and that, together with its beautiful beaches and wonderful climate, have made it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean. In 1966, after nearly 350 years of British rule, Barbados became an independent nation. The political, economic and social stability that were a feature of its colonial past continue today. The Barbados legal system is based on English common law and has been supplemented by modern legislation. Courts exist on the English model with the final appeal being to the Privy Council in London. The official language of Barbados is English. Its currency is the Barbados dollar which has a fixed exchange rate of 1.99 “Bajan” dollars to each U.S. dollar. Barbados is a member of Caricom, the Caribbean common market.Since 1965, when it first enacted enabling legislation for international business companies, Barbados has permitted companies that do not trade locally to establish a presence on the island. To begin with, the great majority of the world’s population didn’t even have access to a computer, much less own one with Internet access. In fact, that was still the case even after the new master took the reins (and probably still is). But we had faith in the Internet’s potential. I even wrote a paper in the mid 90s discussing the Internet’s promise for empowerment, and I quote: “Being such a decentralized, anonymous form of communication, the Internet offers great opportunities to the world’s oppressed – improved (anonymous if desired) communications capabilities, and better access to more sources of local and international news, to name just a couple. At the same time, the Internet poses great threats to the world’s existing media and political powers, not only because of the re-distribution of information (and, therefore, power) to the populace, but also because of the apparent impracticality (impossibility?) of regulating the information flowing in and out of any country.” Alas, I did not see the Internet’s true potential for censorship and control... Content. He who wields content is king We often hear that “content is king”. The logic of the argument is as follows. For some time now, the lion’s share (some 80%) of Internet traffic to the average website has been coming from the major search engines. What’s more, when people use search engines, they rarely look past the second page of search results. Additionally, research suggests that being number 1 in Google equates to twice as much traffic as being num
