I’ve noticed that several times during every baseball or football game, the sports commentators make it a point to make sure that the listening audience know how important the people behind the scenes are: • “Were it not for those guys out in the truck operating the electronic equipment, our [the sports commentators] jobs up here in the booth would be next to impossible.” • “Were it not for the camera crew on the field with so many great replays, the guys in the booth wouldn’t be able to show all of those super camera shots.” • And when the camera crew on the field fails to capture a particularly interesting play, the commentators say something along the lines of, “It’s a shame we can’t show you a replay. We can afford just so many cameras on the field, though.
