Customizing Your Business Card done all 3 -- starting with teaching just one student, I now have taught hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. And starting with one little 8-page manual on the subject of reading music, I now have well over 500 instructional DVD’s, CD’s, books, cassettes, charts, and videos -- all designed to help people play the piano better and understand music better. As we all know business cards are an excellent marketing tool and strategy. So why not boost that strategy with your very own custom business cards? I know what you are thinking, “these must be expensive and im not in the least bit creative so how can I create my own business card and where do I go to get it? I think ill stick with my usual business card printer.” But do u know what the problem with using your usual printer, they probably only have several designs to choose from, therefore your card will look very similar to almost every other business produced from that printer. So if you want to create a unique image, you have to choose to go with the custom cards. Of course there might be a slightly higher price for custom cards, but that is a small price to pay in order to make your company stand out from the rest. And you may even see an increase in business because of your custom cards.Firstly you need to design your very own business card. You can do this by going to any of the online business card companies. On their site they allow you to design your card from scratch, choosing the layout the color scheme the type of text and what I started out as a "One-man music school"; later added a "One man music mail order school"; and then about 8 years ago added a Stop Selling by the Month! It doesn't matter what your talents and skills are. Somewhere there is a hungry market for your skill. You just need to find that market and give them what they are looking for...your skill. Do you play guitar? There are about 19 zillion people in the world wishing they could "play like you." Do you play piano? Another gazillion folks are waiting for you to teach them what you know and can play. You can teach piano. I ought to know – I have operated a “one-man-music-school” in my home for many years, and taught many others to do the same.I can always tell what part of the month it is by my book sales. Want to know how? At the end of the month, everyone is scrambling to make sales so my sales are down. At the beginning of the month, most salespeople are surfing the web instead of working so my sales are way up.Did you know that top producers don't work by the month, what part of the month it is, how many days are left in the month, and so on? Top producers are so consistent in bringing in the big sales numbers that they do because they do what needs to be done every day. They don't take it easy the first week of the month and work overtime the last week. Every day when they wake up, today is today, and they do the same things every day. That's why they're so successful. When I wake up, today is today. I don't care what part of the month it is. Realize that, without consistency, you will not be successful even if you are the greatest salesperson in the world! Concentrating on selling by the month destroys consistency. It automatically puts salespeople into a mindset of relaxing at the beginning of the month and working extra hard at the end of the mon But what if you play the sax or flute or trumpet or drums or are a singer? You have to fill three hours a day, five days a week, every single week. You need topics that inform, enrage, entertain, educate, motivate, and otherwise engage your audience. How do you find those topics, and the guests to make them come alive?Radio shows use lots of guests, and if you can show them why you would be a good one, you can be on the air. The great thing about radio is that you can be on a show anywhere in the world--without leaving home! I've done radio shows in Denver, Washington DC, Phoenix, San Diego, Atlanta, and lots of other places, all from my home near Houston--and often while I'm still in my jammies. (If video phones ever catch on, I'm in trouble!)Getting on radio can be as simple as targeting the stations or programs that seem to be a good fit for your topic (or finding a way to slant your topic to fit). Then, contact them by phone, e-mail,letter or fax. Send your pitch to the producer, and explain why you would make a great guest for their show.Once they express an interest, be prepared to follow up with an information sheet or bio, and a list of suggested questions fo But don't start with the internet. When that's going, then add "Your-Name World-Wide-Web School"... we just have meetings.Seriously?I've come across that comment a few times in the last year or so and I've never challenged it at the time: there are too many people around who recognise that they need help to spend time worrying about those who think they don't. And yet at the back of my mind I'm aware of a slightly guilty feeling. After all, just because these people don't think they - or their staff - are making presentations doesn't mean they don't need help at it. In fact there's an argument to suggest that precisely because of this belief they're more likely than most to need help!Because I'm that sad kind of person, I lay awake at night mulling this idea over. Perhaps they were right and there really are no presentations of any kind in their place of work. Perhaps no-one ever had to provide information to anyone else face-to-face in an even semi-structured way. Perhaps they never met each other on the corridor and asked each other how things were going and updated each other on the progress of this-or-that-project. Perhaps they did everything in a completely organic (indeed anarchic "Duane, That would be great, but how do I get started?" I'm glad you asked, because you came to the right place to find out how. In my experience as an IT recruiter, contracts generally ran for 3, 6, or 12 months in length and could sometimes be extended, often several times. Also, with a contract position you generally don't get paid any benefits, don't get paid for vacation and might not be eligible for other perks that fulltime staff might otherwise be entitled to.Sometimes a contract job turned into a fulltime position later on.With contract wor I started out as a "One-man music school"; later added a "One man music mail order school"; and then about 8 years ago added a "One-man world-wide-web music school". (You can go see it right now if you want to at www.playpiano.com.) For years I taught students in person, in my “One-Man-Music-School”, and made an excellent living doing it. Then I discovered a way to "multiply myself" so I could teach many people at the same time instead of just one. Some people call it "mail order", but I just called it great! By printing my lessons & recording them on cassette tape or video, then later on CD’s and DVD’s, I could not only reach a lot more people, but I could teach anywhere -- and I do. Farmers in Montana, Doctors in Florida, CPA's in Washington, Barbers in Texas, Housewives in Kentucky -- you name it. Instead of having 100 students, you can have thousands! I presently have over 80,000 people who subscribe to my newsletter, and I have a young friend named Jermaine in the same business who has 4 times that many! And another great and talented friend named Dave in my own home town that is cleaning my clock when it comes to marketing savy and technical facility. Am I worried? Not in the least. The demand for instruction is growing at a geometrical rate, so there is plenty of room for all of us. Not only that, we can co-operate together and work out affiliate relationships that benefit us all. You too can turn your personal teaching into books, charts, games, cassettes, videos, DVD’s, CD’s, software and more. You can market them through mail order catalogs, classified ads, free write-ups, direct mail, and a wide variety of other outlets. Space doesn’t permit to cover all the details of selling by mail order and direct mail, but many fine books are available on the subject at your local library, and a few days spend immersing yourself in them will get you up and running sooner than you may think. It's not near as hard as you might think -- I've been doing it for almost 30 years now, and have sold hundreds of thousands of music and piano courses. There's no reason at all why you can't do it too! Your own web
