Deep down, she “knew” her parents were right about her incompetence. But, she also “knew” she was smart and capable as a fashion designer. So she had an internal dilemma: How could she have her own successful business if she was to love and honor her parents values? This was an awful problem for Dolly. She found a way out: by making things so complicated, she was able to fail no matter how good she was! That way she could be really smart and fail at the same time! She could honor her parents by failing and be really smart about figuring out how to sabotage her life!
