    Accountability Equals Meeting Success
Leslie was the new manager of the group. She was replacing Tom, a well respected manager who was retiring. Once she arrived, she made it one of her first priorities to sit down with everyone on the team and get to know them.Beyond pleasantries though she wanted to get to know each individual, what they saw as their goals and objectives, and how they thought she could help them. As she started having these meetings some common themes came out – not about the individuals so much as about the team overall. She learned that the team liked each other and had a good level of trust. She learned that they were viewed as being a pretty good team (which was her observation from the outside too). Beyond these good things, she learned there was some frustration because people didn’t feel others always were accountable to the team. She didn’t get any specifics initially, but the picture got clearer quickly once she called her first team meeting.Tom had always had staff meetings

Three Steps to Writing Your Own Resume
While most professionals hire a professional resume writer, some draft their own resume. People who write a lot for business usually have more success in putting together a sharp, focused presentation; still, anyone can learn the basic steps to prepare his or her own resume. There are three major differences between a "strong" resume and an "o.k." resume:1. FORMAT AND PRESENTATION DETERMINE WHETHER THE RESUME IS READThe average resume is scanned, not read, for only 8-15 seconds. It either creates a strong impression to the reader immediately or it is set aside. It is similar to the impression you make on the interviewer. Therefore, make sure your resume is wearing the equivalent of a "business suit" and not jeans and flip-flops!Choose a format that complements your career goal. Committed to Nothing
My uncle recently retired from a large manufacturing company after 40 years of service! This is no doubt a great accomplishment, and I congratulate him for this achievement. However it really does cause me to wonder. Could I ever work for the same company for 40 years?Let’s just put this into perspective. My uncle retired in 2006 which means he started working in 1966. Let’s put this in modern terms. I graduated from college in 2003 and was very fortunate to land a job at a great company in December of 2002 before I graduated. If I were to stay with my current company for 40 years I would retire in the year 2042. Needless to say I would be vested in my 401k and probably have about 200 vacation days. Is it very likely for me to stay with my current company for 40 years? No. Does my employer know that this not a very likely scenario? Yes.Isn’t it true that today’s young people do not even consider finding a job out of college or high school and staying with that

Large companies pay advertising agencies a lot of money to develop tag lines for their companies and brands. Many companies, however, do not have a large enough budget to hire an advertising agency. If you belong to one of these small budget businesses, do not despair. With some creativity and persistence, you can develop your own tag line.First, decide what you want to communicate with your tag line.If you have a positioning statement and/or unique selling proposition, write them down. Your tag line should reinforce them.Ask yourself these questions.1) Who are your customers?2) What benefits do you give your customers?3) What feelings do you want to evoke in your customers?4) What action are you trying to generate from your customers?5) How are you differen
