The trick is effectively communicating that information to your target market.Let’s assume that you have what your prospective customers are looking for: excellent service, high ethical and quality standards, a near-perfect track record in living up to promises and producing desired results, and the skills or knowledge to help your clients achieve their goals or solve their problems. Think about it. You are exactly what people are scouring the Internet or Yellow Pages for and spending countless hours researching. Moving Boxes and Supplies Across New York
Whether you are moving to New York or within New York moving isn’t an easy task. Moving means careful packing of all the items and furniture so that they aren’t damaged while moving. This is when moving boxes and supplies play a vital role. In fact moving boxes and supplies actually kick start your moving procedure and planning. It has been seen that many professional moving companies tend to emphasize more on moving boxes and supplies. Before packing your items make sure your moving boxes and supplies are big and sturdy enough to accommodate all your belongings. Many New York moving companies, nowadays, also offer special moving boxes for packing piano and chandelier. Also you get some specialty moving boxes and supplies, to handle such items as books, breakables and other important belongings.Apart from moving boxes and supplies you also need few other items that go along with your moving boxes. Those are:• Packing paper, bubbles or peanuts for the breakables. All these are as important on the moving supply list as the moving boxes and supplies themselves.• Packing tape. Don’t forget to get the best packing tape available in the market. Your items are very important to you; therefore, packing tape is the secured way of sealing the moving boxes and supplies.• Scissors. Many packing tapes these days come in rolls that self-cut. West Virginia was the second largest producer of coal in the United States in 2005, producing 160 million tons or 13% of total production, while Wyoming was number one, producing 380 million tons, approximately 35% of the nation’s total coal production. However, the coal produced by West Virginia is more in demand than that which is produced in western states as it is considered a cleaner burning coal.

With demand for alternative energy sources in the U.S. at an all time high, the price of coal doubled over the past two years, as natural gas and oil prices have sky rocketed with supplies diminishing, especially in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf of Mexico in August of 2005. The Gulf produces nearly 40% of the nation’s natural gas and refines nearly 30% of the nation’s oil and is still hampered by the storm’s devastation. In 2006, coal is expected to provide over 50% of the energy necessary for U.S. electric utilities and speculators expect the future of the coal industry to extend its growth over the next decade, returning to its rate of production prior to the 1970’s.

The tragedies of the 2005 hurricane season along the Gulf Coast as well as the subsequent flooding of New Orleans, LA served to expose flawed emergency services systems on all levels of government in addition to failed levee maintenance. Victims who endured Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita as well as several other storms in Louisiana, Mississippi, parts of Texas as well as Florida, have been promised that government and its respective agencies would be examined and mistakes made would be corrected. Yet it remains to be seen if proper funding oversight will be followed through or if indeed lessons will be learned.

Similarly, the mining explosion of Sago Mine in Tallmansville, WVA, in which 12 miners lost their lives on January 2, 2006, with one surviving miner who still remains in a coma as of a week later, will be steeped in paperwork and months of several independent investigations, including federal and state hearings. While it would appear that running a mining operation is fairly straight forward, the fact that the work in this underground mine is done 25 stories below the surface of the earth, makes it ripe for facts to be less than forthcoming. But maybe the legacy of the tragedy of Sago will unveil the real cost of the purchase of mining operations in the 21st century, by investors with little or no interest in the history of mining or its real inherent risks.

    Most Valuable Asset
What is the most valuable asset that your firm possesses? Is it your technology, trade secrets, credit line, or customer base? Although we realize the importance of these, most of us believe that our people or our leadership teams are most valuable to us. However, there is another asset that may be even more important as your business matures. A good name or reputation allows your firm to attract quality leaders, excellent employees, key customers, and financing.Proverbs 3:4 tells us that we should desire the favor of both God and Man. We are reminded that a good name is more valuable than great riches (Proverbs 22:1). In a business environment in which we demand performance quarterly and we exchange CEOs more often than our cars, a good name is a rare commodity. In recent months I was reminded that a good name can produce investment returns for many years. Last year, our three-year-old marketing firm was looking for key brokers to represent our new product to the nation’s larger retail chains. Our Vice President was interviewing a broker to call on the world’s largest retailer. The broker asked him about the owners of our firm and the Vice President shared my name. The broker immediately volunteered to take our line. He shared that 15 years ago he had worked as the buyer for that same retailer. Because of the instigation of a policy to buy direct, he took the business away from my distribution firm. Within three months he knew that the decision was wrong. When he went to his boss to change the decision, he was prohibited from doing so, but he continued respect our distribution firm and me as lead

    Office Furniture
Moving your company from a small office or a home to a larger office can be an exciting time but it can also be a very expensive time. Office furniture can be expensive and depending on the type of business you are running can inhibit your employee's energy and productivity. I have often found that walking into an office with neon lighting and gray cubicles on all side takes the energy out of me as soon as I move into the room. I feel this is to often the way that companies find solutions for their office needs. With a little creativity and some advanced planning for you move you can setup your office to run with as much efficiency as a traditional corporate atmosphere, and your employee's will be much more enthusiastic about coming into work. For the small business which has to provide for up to twenty employees I have seen several companies find large houses to provide the necessary workspace for their employees. These offices generally will have a more homey feel and create a great space when you have visitors in. setting up workstations throughout the house and using the individual rooms as either executive offices. Also a living room or dining room can be used easily as a conference room and meeting place. Assigning teams that work together a single room to work together in can improve productivity and boost the rate at which communication takes place.Another alternative to the traditional cubicle style office is to convert a large studio space into an office. Spreading you employees out around a large central conference table or room give them the ability to have the privacy a phone based bu

    The Accidental Artist
Some people decide they want to start their own home business and know exactly what sort of business they want. Many other people who want to work at home have no idea what sort of home based business might be suitable for them.If you fall into the second category, it makes sense to look for a product or service people need and then decide whether you could provide it. Another way of finding your own little niche business in a big competitive world is to examine your skills and think about what you enjoy doing. Sometimes, people don't even have a vague idea about what they could do to work from home and they come across their ideal opportunity by accident. That's what happened to me, but my friend Mick's story trumps that: he didn't even plan to start a business, it was all an accident.Mick is one of those people who can fix anything and it seems like he can make most things from scratch. If you need anything fixed from your wristwatch to your motor-cycle to your curtains (yes he sews as well), Mick's your man. I don't think Mick and his wife have ever needed to pay for any work on their house. Mick can do carpentry, wiring, plumbing, painting; he'll tackle anything from drains to roofing and make a professional job of it. Before you get to thinking I'm trying to sell you a superman here, I'll tell you Mick isn't perfect: he can't cook and won't try. His wife swears he'd live on sandwiches if she wasn't there, and I have no reason to think she's making that up. Mick says he doesn't have time to learn to cook and I guess that's true.In his day job Mick worked for years at one of

Got A Business Idea But No Money? Here Are 5 Tips On Funding A Women Owned Business
More women are leaving the corporate world to become entrepreneurs. For the past two decades, majority women-owned firms have continued to grow at around two times the rate of all firms. According to the Center for Women's Business Research, the number of majority women-owned businesses increased 42% between 1997 and 2006.One of the concerns faced by a woman business owner is finding the money to start or grow her business. While some women-owned businesses are funded through a small nest egg, others may turn to additional means of finance. Here are 5 tips on funding a woman business start-up.Borrowing From Family And Friends This is one of the most common ways to fund a new business. Your family and friends are more likely to lend you their money if they are convinced by your business plan and idea. Borrowing money from people you know is a cost-efficient approach as you may not be required to pay extra fees or interests. However, it could potentially lead to strained relationships if you are unable to repay the money. Some individuals believe that they are automatically entitled to a piece of the business in return for the money loaned. Any stipulations associated with the "loan" should be put in writing to avoid any future misunderstanding. Some women business owners are aware of the tension that can potentially arise from borrowing from family and friends. If you are one of them, why not ask your family or friends to help out in running your business such as taking orders, promotions, delivery and so forth.Credit Cards Small business owners reportedly use several

The evolution of mining technology as well as the work of the United Mine Workers Association (UMWA) has led the way for miners’ safety rights vastly improving the lives of miners throughout the U.S. The UMWA was largely responsible for the advent of the Federal Coal Mine Health and Safety Act of 1969, known as the Coal Act, which established health and safety standards for miners both in underground and above-ground mines. The Bureau of Mines was given the power to levy fines and criminal penalties on mines in violation of the law. In addition, free chest x-rays were available for underground miners as well as a compensation fund.

The Coal Act was amended in 1977 in what is now known as the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act, or the Mine Act, which is the prevailing legislation today. The Mine Act helped strengthened the Coal Act with better enforcement of its statutes and combined federal safety and health regulations for all mines, coal and non-coal, under the same piece of legislation. In addition, a new agency within the Department of Labor, known as the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) was established with a director appointed by the president of the U.S.

The UMWA was founded in Columbus, OH in 1890 with the merger of the Knights of Labor Trade Assembly No. 135 and the National Progressive Union of Miners and Mine Laborers. Its initial constitution “barred discrimination based on race, religion, or national origin.” It was a leader in fighting racism and ethnic discrimination before the turn of the 20th century. Also included in their early fights, the UMWA fought for the 8-hour day in 1898, followed by collective bargaining rights in 1933, health and retirement benefits in 1946 and the eventual health and safety protections resulting in federal legislation in 1969.

And perhaps most important to the UMWA’s accomplishments was its plowing the way for the National Industrial Recovery Act, which granted workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively with their employers. And after the success of organizing the nation’s coal miners, the UMWA extended its work to the steel and auto industries in order to help those workers organize.

While fatalities in the mines have fallen significantly over the past century and working conditions improved, by the 1980’s many of the smaller mines went out of business, with more nuclear power plants coming online and the with the oil crisis of the 1970’s supposedly over. Coal became less of a necessity. Many mines which remained opened decided to hire only non-union personnel. With
