The only downside that I can see is what I mentioned earlier that it takes time to build residual income. Also, theoretically, you are still solely depending on the marketing company for your income. Basically if the marketing company sells lots of products year by year, you should do very well, but if the marketing company has poor products, you might have to wait a little longer than you originally thought for that residual income to kick in.

Also at times marketing companies change their compensation plans. Compensation plans are basically commission structures (how the marketing company pays you your commissions).These in my opinion should stay the same as this is what brought the affiliate into the company in the first place.
