How to Deliver Exceptional Customer Service
Having been in business a number of years, I’m amazed at the number of people who don’t have the slightest idea of what customer service is. Customer service is not a way of doing things – it’s an attitude.I always love it when company’s send their people to seminars to learn about customer service. All the seminars will discuss the customer’s needs and expectations and the orator will package these ideas as new and cutting edge when in fact these very ideas were in practice over 30 years ago!Somewhere along the line, we forgot the customer in favor of the bottom line. Some of this may also be attributed to different mind sets over time and how people tend to treat one another.Let me wax poetic here a moment. When was the last time you could go to a gas station and have an attendant in a white shirt and tie wait on you, check your oil, clean your windows, and fill your tires just as a way of saying thanks for your patronage?More than likely the station you went to had an attendant who’s appearance was disheveled, wearing more jewelry than you own, and here you are passing money thr

Career Authenticity - Step 4 - What Needs to Happen to Feel Authentic at Work
Step 4 – What would have to happen for you to be able to fully express your authentic self at work? What do you feel is getting in your way?It is easy to focus on what is not working but it takes a bit more energy to step up and identify what is getting in the way of it not working. Some of my clients take this step and then realize they are getting in their own way. Maybe it is their attitude, inertia, laziness, or because it is simply easier to pass the buck than to take action. So, in this step I encourage you to evaluate your situation closely and review the exercises you completed in steps 1-3. Then, complete these sentences:If only _____________________, I would feel much more authentic at work.If only ________________________________, I would feel better about my job.I would be satisfied if I spent ________ amount of time doing ________.I would be so excited to do _______________.I know that my ______________________ is getting in the way of me finding happiness/success/satisfaction at work.I know that it is time for me to move on but _______________
“Conflict” is a word that can have varying degrees of severity, meaning, and implication for each individual or circumstance. For example, the conflict that is experienced in our current, daily lives seems insignificant in comparison to the Samurai, or those in war, who faced death on a regular basis. However, it is still important to extrapolate the significant lessons that have been derived from such severe scenarios, as these notions are still applicable in the conflict that we experience in the workplace and life today.

Twelve Places to Buy a Mailing List
©2004 Jeffrey DobkinThere are two types of lists, determined by their origin: compiled lists and response lists.Compiled lists are a common source of names and records that have been gathered, collected, and entered into a database. The names may have been acquired through public records such as vehicle owner registrations or high school teachers. Directories, such as a directory of plant maintenance engineers, are usually compiled lists. Many lists are compiled from categories in phone books across the U.S. Examples would be all the photography shops or all the luggage dealers in the United States. Or all the plumbing supply dealers.Keep in mind that compiled information - like fish - gets old rather quickly and doesn’t age particularly well.Response lists are data from people who have responded to an ad or who have purchased from a catalog, direct mail package, TV ad,or other offer. With any mailing you are considering, first ask precisely what groups or what characteristics make up the perfect audience. Then try to find a list that matches these d

Positioning Strategies For Real Estate Agents
Just recently I was asked to do a talk for my good friend and co-author of our best-selling book in Singapore titled Get Rich Now: 15 Strategies from a Self-made Millionaire, Dr Dennis Wee. (Dr Wee is one of Singapore’s most celebrated entrepreneurs. Despite not having completed his high school education, he managed to start and build up his own real estate company, Dennis Wee Group, to become of Singapore’s leading real estate companies generating S$3.8 billion worth of sales in 2006.)He wanted me to share some marketing secrets with his real estate agents and I was more than happy to do so because I believe there’s so much more that agents can do to position, brand and market their services. Sadly, most agents, whether in real estate or financial services (insurance) or any other industries, tend to see themselves just as a salesperson. This perception of themselves is limiting their growth and income!By thinking that they are just salespeople, they don’t see the possibilities of growing their careers into full-fledge businesses. There are so much more benefits for someo

The Power Of Trade Show Marketing
How many times have you been approached to exhibit at trade shows but declined? Exhibiting at trade shows can be a very powerful marketing weapon, but only if you understand who your market is and if these people will be attending the trade show in large numbers.Knowing your target customer is one of the most important principles in successfully building your business. You must be able to describe your prospective customer in as much detail and passion as you can describe your own product or service.Once you’ve made the decision to be an exhibitor at a trade show, you need to find out who will be attending by getting a list of the registered participants from the organizer of the event. You can also get a list of former exhibitors and call several of them to get their feedback from past years. Your goal is to identify the highest level of prospects for your product because they are the most likely attendees.Once you have a list of the attendees, it’s important to contact as many of them prior to the trade show as you can. You could send them a letter, an e-mail, or a report, or an invitation

How In-Store Video Is Lifting Retail Sales
Traditionally, retailers spend most of their advertising and marketing dollars on long-established media such as magazines and television. While this can be a successful strategy, it omits to reach the consumer at the most important place for buying decisions – in the actual store.Customers have to recall branding messages from traditional media or from static in-store signage when making an impulse buy. Now, savvy retailers are reaping the benefits of interactive visuals at the point of sale. By using a digital network, targeted and personalised digital messages are distributed instantly to digital screens in the retail environment. Streaming digital content is distributed to plasma screens via an in-store server connected to a fat broadband network. How does a digital network differ from showing a DVD in-store? In the past, retail stores would play a DVD or VHS tape over and over again. This proved to be a successful method to explain to customers product benefits and increase retail sales. However, an in-store digital network takes the repeatable DVD one giant leap further. Scre
