In the toils and frustrations of life, we might develop a negative attitude and feel that there is no use trying. Satan, sin, and death have terrorized mankind since the days of Adam and Eve. The evil one has captured us at his will, addicted us to sin, and made us his slaves. He accuses us of being unfit for the blessings of God.
We don’t need to be distressed about such things. God has promised the righteous success. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just, and protects the way of his faithful ones (PR 2:7-8).
Relief from the bondage of Satan, sin and death came from the Messiah, who descended from the tribe of Judah (GE 49:10). For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (ISA 9:6).
He was to open the eyes of the blind, to free captives from the prison of sin (ISA 42:7). He would not set up a rigid form of legal government, but would bring justice through the application of truth to the hearts of believers. Though he was the “King of Kings” (1TI 6:15), he refused to be a political figure, because his kingdom is not of this world (John 8:23, 18:36).

Unfortunately, the truth will only set you free if you accept it and act on it. Knowing that you are lost in sin will not set you free unless you repent and live according to biblical principles.
Knowing the truth about how to lose weight will not set you free unless you stick to the proper diet and get plenty of exercise. Knowing the truth about getting out of debt will do no good unless you quit buying more than you can pay for and start paying off your present debts.
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. When you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. This comes from First Corinthians 10:13.
This is the truth about temptation. You must be willing to accept it, and take the way out that is provided. The truth will set you free if you do what the concept demands.
