Paul, the model saint, would like us to see the great value of revealing our needs to God in prayer. We must never assume that the things we need to maintain life on earth will be granted without making our requests known to God. Our requirements to live on earth and God’s supply in heaven are meant for each other. If we only ask, we will surly receive. But when we fail to ask, we will of course fail to obtain what we need from God. The Word of God affirms this, “Ye have not, because ye ask not.” He has made sufficient provision to supply all our needs. So there is every reason to push the Christian people to make their requests known to God. The Apostle Paul discovered the plentiful riches of God when he said...

“My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” --Philippians 4:19

In the clear light of this increased promise the children of God have no acceptable excuse for living in spiritual poverty. This guaranteed promise shows us the resources God has made available to His people in answer to their prayers.

Now we can think of God’s promise as a certified check made payable to us the moment we present it for payment. However, we cannot receive anything on that certified check until we make our requests known to God in prayer. No matter what gracious spiritual and earthly blessings the promise contains, true prayer to the Father is the only way to cash in this check. The earthly blessings, the things we possess, that we have received from the Lord are not sufficient to supply all our need in this world. Jesus stated this fact when He said,

“...A man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” -- Luke 12:14

Our productive work cannot produce true riches. A person is truly rich to God when they possess the resources of Christ contained in His certified (check) promise to supply all our needs. When Paul said, “My God...” he announced the amazing fact that a person can possess God. It is also written in the covenant of grace,

“...I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” -- 2 Corinthians 6:16.

The supreme purpose of Christ is accomplished the moment He gives Himself to us in the covenant of God. The Scriptures reveal that when the Savior said, “It is finished.” from the cross, He has given everything to redeem us, and provided everything to supply us, and He wills to give all that is in His divine nature to satisfy us. There is nothing more needed. Therefore, if a person has not yet received the indwelling Christ in answer to their prayer, then they have failed to obtain the luxurious objective of all praying.

We do not find it difficult to make our requests known to God when we are fully aware of His presence. Paul stated this detail when he said,

“...The Lord is at hand.” -- Philippians 4:5

This incredible eye-opener is obviously a necessary part of the warning to make our requests known to God. The inspired apostle was paying attention to this great truth when he said, “...The Lord is at hand.” He is saying in substance, “The Lord is ha
