"Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"Ok, it’s not exactly flattering to be called a whore, but who cares when you’re making money, right? Before you send me hate mail or report me to the local authorities, let me explain myself a bit further. The term that I’m referring to is “myspace whore”. If you haven’t heard it than I really do apologize for exposing you to such an inappropriate phrase, but if you know anything about Myspace.com, then you know that that quote is thrown around like tator tots in a food fight. However, the definition of myspace whore isn’t as bad as it sounds. Basically, it refers to a member who has an enormous list of “friends” most of whom he or she has no personal relation with. In other words it means someone who likes to network with as many people as they can. Whether it be for their own reasons or what we’re going to be talking about...to make money. You see, u 26"What is written in the Law?" he replied. Many companies have successfully branded their products. Do you know why people choose Coca-Cola when there are similar sodas on grocery shelves? People trust and are familiar with the Coca-Cola name. They automatically choose Coke. This happens millions of times a day with millions of products and services worldwide. Choices are made based on the familiarity of a brand name.Branding may seem like an artificial way to increase the value of a product or service, but that is not the case. Familiarity and trust have worth and value. That is why billions of dollars are spent worldwide on branding.Take, for instance, the accounting principle of Goodwill. When a business is sold, an accountant will value the business by taking the purchase pr 30In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. Shopping is a play we all participate in. Even those who say they don't like it. Great stores entertain us, share new ideas, make political statements, express our values, and then send us home with more stuff than we intended to buy. A great play starts out with a great story. Just reading that story on stage doesn't make great theatre. There are many other elements that make a story into a dramatic production. In retail, the story is the product. You might have the best product since the ipod, but just putting it on a shelf doesn't mean people will buy it. To successfully sell a product today you need to create a shopping experience for consumers that they enjoy. If they don't like it, they'll go somewhere else. In theater and retail, drama and entertainment are created with the same elements. Y 36"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" 37The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." And who is my neighbor? Jesus very pointedly showed this religious teacher of Israel that the only time that you are a true neighbour is when you have mercy on someone who is in need. We all know the phrase Love thy neighbour but few of us qualify according to the parable of the Good Samaritan. People may have excuses to this and say that the homeless are drug users or addicts or anything else and it’s not their job but Jesus said the greatest commandments were to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and to love your neighbour. I cannot walk down a street in Sydney where I live when I have money on me spare when a beggar does not ask me for money. Jesus has a command, “Give to every person that asks of you and from he that steals from you don’t require it back.” I take that command literally and every single individual that asks me for change gets change if I have some spare and 95% of the time I have some spare. In fact when I have no spare change they stop asking me. Sometimes it’s a choice between me buying a coke that I really want and them getting two dollars toward their next drink. In these times it’s only my love that wins out. To know what is right and not to do it is sin People may say me financing a drug addict is not acceptable or me financing a drunk is not what the Lord wants me to do. I have not got a rehabilitation service and I have already taken a homeless man into my house and so whilst I cannot be a proper Good Samaritan and take the man and properly heal him I can help him with his comfort whatever that may be. Jesus says to give and so I give. Most people have spare change on them most of the time and yet very few part with that change to the desperate beggar on the street. Perhaps I can encourage you with scripture. Proverbs 19:17 <
