Prior to interviewing with a company, you need to do some research. One reason to find out more about the prospective employer is to determine if you want to work there. A job is not just a job. Another reason is to be able to respond appropriately in the interviewer when you are questioned. Here are some things you should know. Consider each of the following questions car

In Marketing to Realtors, Your Listening Skills are the Key to Your Success
Are you trying to stand out in your marketing to Realtors? Why not try addressing one of the most overlooked areas of most business transactions: communication. How often have you had miscommunications with a Realtor? As frustrating and embarrassing as it may be, it’s also an indication of a bigger problem, poor listening skills. There is a lot more to being a go
A Feldenkrais practitioner came to me about a year ago needing more effective marketing materials for her practice. I was excited to help because Feldenkrais had given me almost total pain relief from severe and chronic back pain many years ago. To me, Feldenkrais is a Godsend. But you have probably never heard of it.

When I started gathering information and material for Feldenkrais, I searched the web to see how other Feldenkrais practitioners marketed themselves. I was astounded by the lack of marketing know how. Almost every site out there starts out by explaining what Feldenkrais is or who Dr. Feldenkrais was. It’s all stuff like, “It’s a movement re-education system, blah blah blah.” Almost no one talked about benefits like pain relief.

When I talked to the practitioner about telling prospective clients about pain relief, better balance, and better coordination, she hesitated. Not everyone got pain relief. Having experienced such dramatic pain relief myself, I absolutely wanted her to market with this. I also know potential clients want to know you can help them.

Packaging for the Leap from Shelf to Hand
Package design is not decoration. Did you know that 80 percent of all purchasing decisions are made in-store? As traditional media is being revolutionized right before our eyes, your packaging will most likely be the first introduction a consumer has to your product and we all know how important first impressions are. Your package is a valuable asset that can make or break the sale o

Yellow Pages Secret #1: Changing the Focus of Your Ad So That It Immediately Wins Customers
Before we start, could you open your Yellow Pages directory? What do most of the ads look like? To me they are nothing more than enlarged business cards. Basic contact information, logo and a slogan.A few list a little more… Like a florist who does weddings and funerals. A limo service that drives to proms. Custom framing that does photos and art. And this one is great: massage

    Telecommuting Idea – Bookkeeping
If you have experience in accounting or have worked as a bookkeeper before, bookkeeping can be a great way to work from home. Small businesses are continuously looking for ways to outsource some of their workload and most of them do not need a full-time in-house bookkeeper. You can approach several businesses in your area and offer to keep their books.Of course there are some tools yo

Six Useful Strategies for Navigating Career Transition or Job Change [And Other Big Changes as Well]
Through my own two major career changes, and after coaching many people through successful career change, I have determined six useful strategies for navigating this life passage with skill, perspective, humor, a sense of adventure, and a great outcome.First of all, know up front that few people feel skilled at figuring out a new career or finding that next job. Most people find the t

Since then I’ve worked with other “Alternative” practitioners and workshop leaders. Universally, I find that they don’t use benefits to market. They all want to talk about the process. The problem is, your prospects don’t really care that much about the process. They are really focused on results. They want to know what’s in it for them. Will you or will you not solve their problem, stop the pain, build their self esteem, etc.?

If you want more clients or more class participants, you need to start educating prospective users about how you will help them. Don’t explain the process. Tell success stories. Tell how other people have benefited from what you did for them. When they ask how you do it, invite them to a session with you to experience it for themselves. Don’t fall for the trap and start explaining how it works. Yes, they asked how, but what they really want to know is, “will it work for me?”

Your answer should be to ask what pain or problem they are experiencing and then to share a time that you helped someone in a similar situation. Follow up with an offe
