For God's Sake ... Don't Do This! (Advice to Newbies)
We needed more money. That was an accepted fact. We were both retired and the cost of the insurance AND the co-pays on the medications was overwhelming us. The rent keeps going up as well as the cable (with our internet connections) and everything else was too. Now, gas is costing $3+ per gallon! Yup! We needed more money coming in. So I decided to see if I could do ‘something’ on the internet. My first adventure was ‘surveys’. That went over about as well as a frog in a flight suit! I would fill them out and click submit and the o

Building A Niche Is A Cinch
Believe it or not, a lot of companies - both small and big - create their marketing program towards a specific audience. This niche audience is carefully selected and pinpointed to market segments to specifically maximize the program’s effectiveness.Take for instance one company called HP or Hewlett Packard. This particular company markets and sells machines that are able to do everything, from scanning to faxing, printing, etc.The target of this company are those home offices as well as much larger companies and business
If you have not read parts 1 and 2 of this mini series on How To Get A Government Contract, I suggest you do so to help understand what has been said and how it applies to what is being said in this third and final part of the mini-series.

Whether you are planing to seek government contracts at the local, state or federal level, or private contracts, it makes sense to see the acquisition process through the eyes of the purchasing agent/authority who will be making the decision to award the contract. There are three basic points to consider that a purchasing agent definitely considers: Planning, Participation, and Protection:

PLANNING: Contracting procurement officers (CPO’s) and purchasing agents (PA’s) often rely upon the department, agency or institution for input regarding an acquisition planning and will consider a variety of issues that help identify the minimum needs of the agency or the end user. This information is used in the planning phase and the development of the request for proposal (RFP).

Your Performance Review: Sabotage or Springboard?
Not long ago a woman contacted me the day after she had the worst performance appraisal of her career. Feeling blindsided by unwarranted criticism and unrecognized for the hard work she had contributed during the year, she was ready to walk away from her job!At that point all I could do was damage control. While I was able to offer advice and strategies to help her gain clarity about what happened, minimize the damage to her self esteem, and help her re-establish communication with her boss, how much better it would have been had

    Opportunities With Many Horticultural Jobs
Every time you walk outside you do not have a choice but to come in contact with horticulture. Horticulture is the science or art of cultivating fruits, vegetables, flowers, or ornamental plants. Plants make the world a very beautiful place to live, and they also give many things that are needed for life. Plants produce fruits and vegetables that allow us to get the vitamins and minerals that we need to survive. They also produce oxygen which is vital to us being able to live on Earth. Are You Brand Worthy? Are You Brand Worthy?
Branding is a one hot topic, although it is wildly misunderstood. To make things even more confusing, branding is often tossed in the same basket as marketing which makes its application to an entrepreneur or sole-practioner even more unclear. While out speaking on branding, the question that I hear most is "How do I know if my business or service is brand material?" With businesses opening left and right, and more and more closing each year, I'm glad there are smart business owners open to understanding the issue.<

Your First Job -- Work Experience And Applications
Increasingly, it is received wisdom that you will need work experience prior to applying for your first job, and that, particularly in the arts, this will probably have been unpaid. The number of graduates has been rising sharply over the past few years, with employment competition becoming ever tougher, but do you really need to offer yourself as a slave just to get a foot in the door, and how valuable will such experience be considered by others? If you wish to work for nothing, make sure that it is on your terms and for your ben

PARTICIPATION: After the planning and needs analysis, the development of the RFP is many times a collaborative effort with specifications provided by a person or team of experts who have carefully thought through the technical aspects of the acquisition. This technical information is used to develop the RFP for release to the bidding market. CPO’s or PA’s will identify exacting specifications based on internal needs and, depending on the size and scope of the acquisition project, an exhaustive market research. The point is that purchasing agents do their homework before they release the RFP and they know a lot about the industry/commercial sector and have intelligent expectations of market costs and services revolving around their potential purchase.

PROTECTION: CPO’s and PA’s want protection before they award a contract to any bidding party. The first thing they consider is the past performance of the bidding companies and the winning company’s ability to satisfy all requirements of the contract at the absolute best possible price, with the best possible terms, serv
