    Time Management Tips for Managers
Late last year I was presenting a workshop for the senior managers of a major organisation. Whilst doing a pre-workshop survey to assess the challenges these managers were experiencing it became very apparent to me that many of them were showing the signs of business burn-out.

Your marketing plan should outline the following elements:

    • Purpose and Mission
    • Situation Analysis (strengths, weakness, opportunities, threats)
    • Unique Selling Proposition and Positioning Statement
    • Strategy (place, product, price, promotion)
    • Sales Forecast
    • Implementation (roles, responsibilities, time lines)
    • Performance Analysis (to evaluate the success of the marketing plan)

    Commit To An Action Plan

Your plan of action should be concise and to the point. Exactly how and when will the information you have organized be initiated?

Plot it out in specific detail, clearly indicating tools, techniques and strategies to be used to realize each objective. Delegate responsibilities for each task and outline tactics for each stage of your plan.

Your plan for marketing success must have a firm date for completion.

HR Needs It Signed on the Dotted Line
One reason HR has so many forms and other written documentation is because good HR processes are a company's main defense against employee lawsuits. I've been told by employment attorneys that any paper in an employee's file has little value unless the employee has signed it …

    The Three-Dimensional Communication System
Human communication is always three-dimensional. No spoken or written message is ever just words or rational thoughts. Every interchange between you and another person has and takes place at the following three intimately related levels, or dimensions, of being: emotional, phys

    Budget For Success

How much money will you allocate to marketing your business? As a rule of thumb, if your traditional, 'old economy' business is in growth mode, you should devote six to eight per cent of sales to your marketing budget. In the maintenance mode, four to five per cent will suffice, while a business in a declining mode should consider a reduction to zero to two per cent for this period.

In the high tech, e-business sector, the old rules fall by the wayside, but here, think more than ten per cent. Whatever your business, don't be afraid to spend dollars where appropriate. Create and follow a budget that makes sense and will achieve your business goal.

    To Your Success!

A carefully designed marketing plan ensures you have the resources to succeed in the marketplace. Thanks to a winning marketing plan, you know what benefits your business offers, who wants them and where, when and how to deliver.
