    Bullish Intermediate-Term Indicators
The price chart below shows daily SPX (green line and right scale), daily NYSE Summation Index (NYSI; red line and left scale), and the NYSE Oscillator (NYMO) 50-day MA (blue line). Normally, when both NYSI and the NYMO 50-day MA rise, SPX also rises. Moreover, both NYSI and the NYMO 50-day MA fell to low enough levels recently to create an SPX intermediate-term bottom. Also, above the price chart is the CBOE Put/Call (CPC) 21-day MA and below the price chart is the CPC 50-day MA. Typically, a falling CPC 21-day MA is market bullish. Both the CPC 21 & 50 day MAs reached all-time highs recently, which are bullish, since CPC is a contrarian indicator.Although these intermedia

In part 1 we covered how to determine and document some realistic personal fitness goals and how to round up a list of potential personal trainers. In part 2 we're going to take a look at how to determine whether or not the trainers on your list are qualified.

    Personal Trainer Qualifications

The very first thing you need to realize is that, unlike doctors, lawyers, or nurses, there is no official government standard for who can call themselves a personal trainer. There's no single test or criteria, although the fitness industry seems to be slowly moving in that direction. Because of this lack of an official standard, you have chance to come across a huge range of trainers, ranging from someone who has absolutely no business training people, all the way to highly intelligent, educated, and certified individuals on par with any doctor or nurse.

    Preparing For The Avian Influenza
When we hear of a possible pandemic flu, it’s easy to say, “Well, I don’t see much that we can do…. we don’t even have a vaccine…. not one that has been tested on people anyway…so what’s the use of worrying…?” I think that there is a lot we can do…. I know that we probably can’t stop the mutation of this deadly strain into the human strain, but the state of our own immune systems will determine much. We all have the erroneous tendency to look to government for everything…and when things do go wrong we blame the government…. but we should be looking at ourselves…. Consider that the poor people who showed up at the Superdome to ride out Hu

Investing for the Long Term Pays Off
The investor that keeps a steady pace for the long term is more likely to achieve his or her goals than the investor that follows the quick profits. It is true, time can be your best friend. Time gives compounding time to work. The interest on your money turns is added to your principal and earns you even more interest. But if you wait too long, time can't help you as much. For example, Let's look at three investors, aged 25, 35 and 45. All are saving for retirement. Each invests $2,000 each year and earns 8% annually. At age 65, the investor who started at age 25 will have over $585,000. The investor who started at age 35 will have just over $250,000. The invest

    Trainer Certifications

The biggest, most confusing thing to understand is what different certifications mean and how they compare against each other. Because of the lack of a widely accepted standard or minimum requirements, and partly due to the Internet, there are a vast number of very low quality certifications. Many require little in the way of real knowledge, education, or experience, and could rightly be called 'certification mills'. They only exist to earn a fast dollar by convincing trainers-to-be to become certified through them. Beyond that they provide very little value.

There are, however, some very good certifying organizations. And some are obviously better than others. I'll discuss certification in three groups; organizations that have obtained a 3rd party accreditation, those who have joined together to form a standard, and everybody else.

    3rd Party Accredited Organizations

A handful of organizations have obtained accreditation from a 3rd party called the NCCA in order to validate the quality of their certification.
