Get caught up in an opiate addiction, go with some withdrawal (even mild withdrawal) - and your chances of doing heroin go up more than I can explain. Especially if you know people who can access the drug.

I have seen the best of friends, multiple people, go through this cycle.

It doesn't matter what the background is. Sport superstar from upper class. Top GPA in high school. Lower class, poor grades. Middle class, average student. It simple does not matter what kind of person it is or what their background is.

The opiates simply take over your brain and body. It's like you almost have no control. I have seen those with the best of self control be plagued by the disease and continue to be plagued by the disease. Out of about 30 friends that I have seen go through the cycle of opiate addiction - I have seen 0 become totally clean. That's right...besides myself I do not know one person that has successfully quit doing opiates once they got caught up in the addiction (and I have only been clean 3 months so there, of course, is a chance of a relapse).

America needs to wake up and teach our kids about this horribly dangerous and deadly addictive form of drug.
