Ebay Forces Cross Sellers To Use Paypal
Not many are aware that as of the 23rd of May, Ebay has introduced a new seller policy that all international cross sellers. (i.e sellers who are registered at one country but also list their items in another country) can no longer list their items in any other country other than their registered country unless they have a verified paypal account. Now Ebay's reason for doing this is to claim it is to prevent fraud, but one may ask how about those sellers who do not use paypal, who only accept cheques or bank wire? A service acknowledged by the banks themselves as extremely safe for both parties, as a trace can be placed on the bank account in the case of any irregularities or seller non performance. Ebay is still adamant that such sellers, still must have a verified paypal account inorder to cross sell.Of course what many seller's suspect is this is not a

Staff Turnover - A Business Killer
Finding the right staff is critical, as we discussed in the article "Finding Staff to Complement Your Business". But what about keeping good staff? Is it important? Is it worth the effort to keep the right folks on the job? Let’s look at the four areas that staff turnover affects – in a business of any type. Those areas are: Productivity, Revenue, Customer Satisfaction, and Long Term Viability.EFFECTS ON PRODUCTIVITYIncreasing work for the remaining staff... This is rather obvious, but think about the work that’s being left undone. If a staff member has to cover the phones because the receptionist has quit, she is going to omit work somewhere. In the choice between her regular work or answering the phone she’ll do the one she feels is more important. But in her consideration she has to think of the effect of unfinished work on other folks in the business, and she wi

    Businesses Become More Socially Concious
It's a brave new world. Effective management now means more than how you handle your staff. Management also includes how you manage your social reproducibility to others in your community. "There is no way to avoid paying serious attention to corporate citizenship: the costs of failing are simply too high. There are countless win-win opportunities waiting to be discovered: every activity in a firm's value chain overlaps in some way with social factors - everything from how you buy or procure to how you do your research - yet very few companies have thought about this. The goal is to leverage your company’s unique capabilities in supporting social causes and improve your competitive context at the same time. The job of today’s leaders is to stop being defensive and start thinking systematically about corporate responsibility.”Michael Porter, Professor, Harvard Business

    Choosing a Background Check Firm
Sifting through the CompetitionIn recent years, as the access to the Internet has increased significantly, the number of brick and mortar and e-commerce firms offering background checks has truly exploded. Fraud has existed for over 5,000 years, since the civizations of ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, and it's been growing ever since. Most clients today find their background check or investigative firm via the Internet. This leads us to the question: How can one sort through the pages and pages of background checks on the web? Many of the investigative or background check sites are fraudulent themselves, i.e., false advertisments misleading website traffic, offering substandard service, and never produce any service representative of a real background check. The search is less complicated when choosing an international background check firm. Improve to Lead: A New Leaderhip Phase
Phrases like “walk the talk” and “lead by example” are commonplace management and leadership language. These phrases provide frameworks for discussion on effective leadership. I’ve even used them in past articles. That said, I want to make the case today that it is not enough in today’s marketplace to simply “walk the talk” or “lead by example”. Both of these phrases lack the intent to change and improve. Change is always happening and continuous improvement is vital to our businesses today. Consider this alternative phrase instead: “Improve to Lead.”When have you ever heard the phrase, “improve to lead”? I can’t imagine you, or too many others, are nodding your heads right now and thinking, “sure, I hear it all the time.” A short analysis of the business books lining the shelves of the national bookstores and the public library in my area show that the focus on improvement i

How Freight Factoring Can Help Trucking and Logistics Companies
Owning a trucking company or logistics company (freight brokerage) can be very profitable. At the same time, transportation companies tend to be cash hungry. There are fuel expenses, employee expenses, operator expenses, repair expenses and many other expenses that need to be paid quickly. However, most customers don’t offer quick-pays and usually pay their freight bills in 30 to 60 days. This creates a major challenge. Why? You have expenses that need to be paid quickly and customers that want to pay slowly. Unless your company has some available funds, you will most likely run into problems. Many company owners try to address this cash gap by trying to get business financing from their bank. However, they soon learn that banks seldom provide business loans to small transportation companies. Unfortunately, a business loan is not an option for most logistics and transportation c

How many statements were answered “True”? How many “False”? This self-test should be thought of like a quick snap-shot to help you identify whether you are an ace at listening, could use a little brushing up, or perhaps it is an area that you recognize could be improved upon. More “True” statements indicate a lower aptitude for listening, whereas, more “False” statements indicate a greater aptitude for listening.
