    What makes a person a leader is still the subject of discussion, but it is known that all leaders seem to share some common characteristic traits:

You only have to look at the most visible of our leaders today for your answer. All too often it seems that no thought is applied and that their actions are merely reactions.

    The ability to think and apply different solutions or courses of action, often called 'Emotional Intelligence' is what may be missing in many so-called leaders. Emotional intelligence may be described as a combination of competencies which contribute to a person’s ability to manage his or her own emotions, gauge the well-being of others and to influence their actions.

    A leader who can think in this way is able to align personal and subordinate goals to accomplish company goals.

    This is achieved by:

    • Transferring ownership for their work to the people who do the work.
