    Customer Rewards Program
Department stores had the right idea when they started using in store credit cards as their customer reward program.. They built a database. Without knowing about their customers lives they wouldn’t know how to get that customer into the store. This is one of the places where the credit card perfect. In

How Much Should I Pay My Advertising Consultant?
Whatever they are worth! As a consultant, that’s my standard answer. But I know it’s a bit more complicated than that. Hourly rates run the gamut from $50 to $500. Some are worth it and some aren’t. You could probably say the same about your attorney, accountant, and physician. Eac
One of the biggest weaknesses of poor managers is the lack of willingness or ability to give timely, accurate and effective feedback to their employees. There are two types of feedback: positive - recognition and appreciation, and negative – correcting or modifying behavior or discipline. Most employees want to know how they are doing – whether it is good work or work that needs improvement. No one likes to operate in a vacuum.

It is amazing to me, after working with hundreds of organizations over the past 30 years and observing or coaching thousands of managers, executives or business owners, as to how many just don’t get this very simple management principle: you get the behavior you reward. If you want positive behavior repeated, reward it. Let people know you appreciate their effort, dedication, energy, time, etc. If you are getting negative behavior and you ignore it; it, too, will be repeated.

Why A Business Plan Is So Important For Your Success
If you have decided to start your own business, one of the first things that you need to do is to work on a business plan. A business plan is so important because it actually serves as a compass for the direction your business will take in the future. Having a plan will also help you achieve the things you want

Restaurant Employee Tip Tracking Through A Point Of Sale System
The History Of Restaurant Employee Tip HandlingNo one knows when tipping began. But we do know that in the 1980's the IRS levied new regulations on restaurant owners to track the tips received by the employees of the restaurant. The magic number of 8% became the benchmark for serve

What If You Ran A Help-Wanted Ad and No One Answered?
If that hasn’t happened to you yet, you can bet your payroll that it’s going to happen soon. We’re in the early stages of a workforce crisis unlike any that has ever descended on American companies. As the Baby Boomers (who comprise one third of the U.S. population) start to retire, they are creating a signific

Guide to Selecting an Office Chair
Selecting a good office chair is an important decision. If you intend to spend a lot of time in your office chair, it’s probably the equivalent to purchasing a mattress for your bed. Think about how much time you’ll spend in the chair each day. It could be as much as 8-12 hours. If that’s the case, you

This is one of the concerns I have about annual reviews. If you have behavior from an employee that needs modification, don’t wait a year to fix it.
