Remember the western series GUNSMOKE? Well, there was an episode where a former saloon girl was about to marry a hard working farmer. Before the wedding she saw an old customer who came out of no where to a remote outdoor festival with her future brother in-laws and friends. This evil man, who boasted to his friends that she was crazy about him then and now, decided to slander her reputation to her future husband.
After the fight between her fianc? and the evil man, (Her future husband could not allow his own reputation to suffer from this insult.) the poor woman was preparing to go away assuming her fianc? would never marry her. She was hurt and ashamed.

This friend encouraged her to communicate the truth she shared with her- to her fianc?.
So, she found her fianc?, who was still confused and angry. She shared her past and present. She said, “I wanted you to know the truth.” He responded by saying, “I just want you to talk to me. You must always remember to talk to me” Although they did not get married that day.( It was not because of the situation but because the preacher was hurt during the fight.) They rode away with the entire family happy and secure.
