Casual Articles - Fundraising Earns Our Group $75 an Hour!
Key to Starting Your Own Clothing Company people donate at least 50 cents some $1, yet others especially if they are affiliated with the group will donate $5 - $10. Yaweeeeee! I have found from our observations that our group averages $75.00 per hour. You may do more or less than what we did.Starting your own private label clothing company is not as difficult as you may think. I assure you that the founding members of Volcom, Paul Frank, Hurley and Von Dutch, are not mad geniuses of fashion. You can duplicate their rise to brand stardom provided that you have the following:1. A decent logo2. Creative concepts and graphics - Design Talent3. A unique, blank apparel supplier4. A decent screen printer5. A Line Sheet to show potential buyers6. Sales and promotional talent.Which do you think is most important? Its obviously design talent you say? Are you Joking? You must be joking. Have you stepped out of the house recently? Have you seen Von Dutch clothing? Crayon weilding Chimpanzes produce better designs. Furthermore, I imagine the monkeys are more sanitary, but I digress.#6 is clearly the most important element. You can create an entire line of fashion forward, beautiful clothing but if you can't pitch it - no one will ever see it (excluding your mom of course). So, unless you want a closet full of your fantastic designs, ask yourself the following two questions:Can I sell?In other words......can I hit the pavement with my line sheet and walk into every boutique clothing store I can find? Then will I harass the hell out of retail clothing store buyers so that they'll try to squeeze 5 minutes of time in for me at Magic 06' (Clothing Convention) ?Will I be able to make a professional presentation to a Nordstroms buyer? Can I promote?Do I have and creative viral or gureilla marketing ideas to ge Important helpful tips: Use a grocery cart to place all of the used newspaper in for later disposal. Make sure you remove all trash from the site. Take it home for disposal and don’t use the stores trash cans. If you do, they will resent you for it and not let you come back. Have the group director collect all of the cash. This person can go around to all of the spokespersons and collect the cash and oversee the operation. Purchase new supplies needed from the cash you generate. This means less out of pocket expense for your group. If you are working several hours, take a portion of the profit and buy pizza and colas for your group. This isn’t hard work, but people do get hungry and thirsty and would appreciate a break. If your group is in a membership drive or has another cause, have the spokesperson give the donating person a brochure about your group. If you are a church group you may wish to give them a schedule of service about your group. If you are the scouts, you may wish to give them a flyer about your troop. If you have another profit making program, such as a coupon book that you sell, now would be a good time to give them a flyer on it. After the fund raiser is over, I would suggest a time during your next meeting to honor all of those who attended and participated in this fund raiser. You might want to give honor unto those who did an excellent job, or maybe award some sort of prize for all participants. They will then jump through their skin to do a better job next time. Here is a word about alias names. If you belong to a church or other group and they perceive this as a nuisance to ask people for money, you may wish to use an alias name. Kidz for Kids is a great name for a Church Youth Group. Instead of using "Good Morning, We am from the 1st Self Righteous Church, and for a small donation we would like to wash your windshield." The Church may have a problem using the church name or some donator may have a problem donating to churches, you solve this by using an alias. My friend Kevin came up with the name Kidz 4 Kidz. Catchy name. It speaks volumes. People like to donate to y Information Gathering & Delivery May Never Be The Same! We don't use mailing lists, or gather e-mail addresses, even for our newsletter, because we don't have to. Still intriqued? Read on.The One Word I'm Not Going To MentionIf I mentioned one word, one simple word, you may not read any further. Before I mention that one simple word I want you to read information below because it is so important. Once you understand how unbelievably simple and easy this is, then it won't matter what that one word is. Whether you are a consumer, an information gatherer, a business owner or someone that runs an organization, it is vitally important to read on.To understand this better, all you need to do is answer one of these simple questions:* as a consumer or information gatherer would you like total control of what information you see with No Spam, with No Junk Mail and with No Virus threats? Wouldn't it be amazing to actually be in total control of the information you view, instead of the people who are using Spam methods, Bulk E-Mail, and other intrusive means of sending information? Or actually being able to view the information you want to see, instead of it ending up in your Spam or Junk Mail folder!* as a business owner or as an organization would it be benefic The windshield washing business is a business in which you can earn profits quickly for just a little investment (approx $2.00). This is a simple business that really works. Because it is easy, please don't over look its simplicity without giving it an honest try. It works! We use Windex, Newspapers and a sponge to make $75.00/hour. Several years ago as Youth Director of the United Pentecostal Church in Hackberry, LA (a small town population of 2,500 people approximately 30 miles south of Lake Charles, LA) if was my job to raise funds for our various projects for our group or donation to other causes. In our fund raising efforts in the past, we have tried candy sales, pizza sales, item sales, walk-a-thons and all sorts of other gimmicks. Most of these brought poor participation and little income for our youth group. It seems if we wanted to raise money for our group it was struggle after struggle. Perhaps you are there now. When we came upon the idea of a windshield wash, at first it seemed a little CRAZY. Who ever heard of making money from a service as simple as this. WOW!!! .....That's a cool word, I'll believe I'll spell it backwards...WOW. Where was I. Oh yea. We were shocked at how fast this little business generates mountains of green stuff called cash. Zowee! We found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I have walked my last 10 mile walk-a-thon. No more candy and pizza sells. Keep your eyes glued to these simple pages and I will reveal to you how you can do the same for your youth group. Your gonna love this business. LET'S DANCE (Here is the juicy stuff you've been waiting for) The 3 items that you need to begin your windshield washing business are:
Perhaps you have these items lying around the house and it won’t cost you a cent to get started. I recommend 2 sets of the above 3 items for each group of 3 people in your group. If you have 12 people in your group, then you need 8 bottles of glass cleaner, 8 cleaning sponges and 8 newspapers. Don’t worry if you don’t have the money to get this right off the bat, as you can purchase more with profits you will make. Start with one set of the above items. Work this business according to our instructions, and soon you will have enough money to purchase many more sets of cleaning supplies. TIME TO GET STARTED Step 1. Decide where you want to conduct your first wash. When I lived in Hackberry, LA the decision was an easy one. I worked for the busiest business in town, a grocery store called Brown’s Food Mart. I spoke with the owner and he gave me the go ahead. If your town is big enough for a Wal-Mart or K-Mart, this is where I recommend going. I choose this for 3 reasons. Number 1 is because both of these companies are people oriented and like to help out the community. You should have no problem getting permission from the manager to conduct a wash. Number 2 reason is because every one goes to Wal-Mart or K-Mart and you will have an unending supply of people to donate to your cause. (We have also used large grocery store parking lots, so don’t limit yourself to the big boys, because it will work anywhere). Number 3 reason is you can supply your group with additional supplies as you need them without having to send someone for them. Step 2. Approach the Manager and ask his/her permission to conduct a Windshield Wash. Find out who the manager is and ask for an audience. Approach him/her and extend your hand in greeting. "Good Morning, My name is Al Pooser (only says this if it is your name. I say this because it is my name) and I am with Kidz 4 Kidz (I’ll explain why to use a name such as this at a later time) a local youth organization. We are in the process of raising funds to send our children on a missionary trip, raise money for the band, raise money for Girl Scout Uniforms or whatever your cause is. We would like permission to use your parking lot in a little fundraiser. We approach people and offer to wash their auto windshield for a small donation to help Kidz 4 Kidz! Once permission is granted, we simply apply Windex to the front windshield of the auto, scrub it with our sponge (at this point hand a sponge to the manager so that he can see it will not damage the windshield) and then dry it with newspaper. We then collect the money as they either enter or exit the store. We will make sure all newspaper and trash is picked up prior to leaving the parking lot and all supplies that we need will be purchased from your store." Inform the manager what day you will be on his/her parking lot and at what time you will begin. Step 3. Organize your group. I will spell it out step-by-step with a group as few as 3 people and you can upsize the supplies according to the number of people in your group. If you wish start with 1 each of the supplies, but I recommend to make it go faster and more profitable to use 2 or each of the supplies. You need a spokesperson for each group. This person needs to be outgoing and not afraid of speaking to someone. They need to be loud enough to be heard. Not the shy silent type, here. This person needs to approach the driver of the vehicle as they get out of the vehicle and say "Good Morning we are with Kidz 4 Kidz (or the name of your group) and for a small donation we would like to wash your windshield", then remain quiet. If the person ask a question, just answer it. Mostly they ask about your group or what you are raising money for, then they pull out change or dollars from thier pocket or purse and give it to you. Zowee! Time to go to work, you have hit pay dirt. "For a small donation, we would like to wash your windshield." This little saying speaks volumes. It is short, easy to say. It conveys to the person that you approach, exactly what you want. When you introduce yourself with the name of your group, especially if it is a youth group, people automatically want to help. It is a built in philosophy because people see so much bad press when it comes to youth, that when they see youth doing good they automatically wish to help. A little word about competition. It doesn’t matter how many groups are washing windows around you, the bottom line is competition doesn’t matter. You can have a group on every corner around you and it still wouldn’t bother your response. As soon as your spokesperson gets permission and collects the cash or check, the 2 others in the group approach the auto on either side of the front windshield. Each person sprays the windshield on the side that they are on. If they are not tall enough you might bring a small step stool from home to reach the middle of the windshield. After spraying a generous portion of window cleaner on the window (more spray is required in hot climate) take the cloth covered sponge and gently scrub the entire side of the window that you are working on. If you are unsure of the type of cloth covered sponge to use, test a small portion of a window on your car and see if it scratches your window. When I first started I used one of those pot scrapers and it scratched my window. You can bet I didn’t use that one in our windshield wash. The black and white portion of the newspaper is perfect for this business. It is cheap, it dries the window quickly and it doesn’t leave streaks. Your customer will appreciate it. When the two cleaners are almost through, the spokesperson needs to approach the next vehicle, introduce self, and group and ask for the next job. Each windshield wash job takes as little as one minute to complete. After you do several jobs you will become efficient and get the job done quickly. Remember there will be others in your group doing the same thing so you can see profits mount up quickly. You are not alone. One of the biggest gripes from consumers today is the poor service they receive at the hand of service providers. You need not be victimized by lousy service nor do you have to move heaven and earth to get what you want. Let's take a look at four options you can take to get the results that you want and deserve!Uncooperative Telephone Personnel: Chances are if you have a complaint or a problem with a product, you will have to contact that company's Customer Service department. When calling, if you find a cooperative and caring individual, consider yourself fortunate. If you do not succeed in finding a cooperative and caring individual or the information that you receive from them is unacceptable, simply hang up and call back. More than likely you will get a person with a different attitude and a better answer. This works particularly well with insurance companies who have large customer service staffs on hand. Do not let their internal problems set you back.Write a letter or an email: Yes, companies still read letters, more so email messages if it is directed to the right person. Yet, most businesses…• Act as if customer trust develops because the business believes it is honest. • Build only a shallow type of trust that does not lead to profitable relationships and loyalty. • Have no strategy to build the type of trust where customers increasingly value the relationship. Now is an excellent time to aggressively and systematically work at building customer trust. Virtually all businesses have been tainted by the general rise in societal distrust of companies.• A recent Datamonitor study of consumers in the USA and Europe found that 86% are less trusting of companies than they were five years ago. • 80% of people stop buying products or services from companies when their trustworthiness comes into question (Edelman 2005 Trust Barometer) • People spread distrust to friends and associates, the people we trust most. • Over 33% who lose trust in a company, openly campaign against that company on the Internet. The Datamonitor and Edelman research demonstrates that it goes beyond a few isolated cases. Have you thought about the railroad? The railroad industry is one of the highest paying blue collar jobs in America. I actually came to the railroad industry from a white collar executive job.My previous career was higher pay and a lot higher stress. Not to mention the benefits were junk compared to the railroad and the retirement plan was even worse. Is it any wonder I swapped my suit and tie for boots and blue jeans? I could not be any happier with the career change. Did I mention I no longer have to baby sit 40 employees or deal with the stress that comes with it?If you’re thinking on a career change let me give you 5 reasons to check into the railroad industry.#1 is the money. When I was in the white collar world and looking to get into the blue collar world I was not willing to take a very big pay cut. Therefore I wanted a job where I could make at least $60,000 per year or more. With the railroad you can make up to $100,000 depending on the railroad and how much you want to work. The average is about $70,000 per year. Remember though that your pay is going to depend on how much you work, where you work, and who you work for.#2 reason is the benefits. I was paying about $500 per month out of my paycheck in the white collar world for my family’s benefits. Now I pay $110.00 for my whole family. The company pays the rest. Keep in mind that figure does not change whether or not I have one child or twelve!#3 reason is the retirement. Your retirement is paid into the Railroad Retirement Board and not Social S A little word about competition. After the window is cleaned with the cloth covered sponge and window cleaner, take a portion of the newspaper and dry the entire window. Most people donate at least 50 cents some $1, yet others especially if they are affiliated with the group will donate $5 - $10. Yaweeeeee! I have found from our observations that our group averages $75.00 per hour. You may do more or less than what we did. Important helpful tips: Use a grocery cart to place all of the used newspaper in for later disposal. Yaweeeeee! I have found from our observations that our group averages $75.00 per hour. You may do more or less than what we did. Many of us have had a major stumble at some point in our careers. (Okay, well I haven't, but let's just say that I have "a friend" who's made plenty!!) Perhaps you made a bad hiring decision, took the wrong job at the wrong time, or trusted the wrong colleague with sensitive information. You had a sense, or a feeling about it, but for whatever reason, you choose to ignore it.Consider these scenarios: You wake up on Monday morning, and the name of a former co-worker pops into your mind. You wonder what it means, but you brush it off and instead of calling them, you let it go. Later in the week you learn that this same co-worker, who works at a great company, just hired a new product manager. Yep, you guessed it: the perfect position for you.And then there’s the job interview you had mixed feelings about, but you went ahead and accepted the job offer anyway – it was just too good to turn down. After a few months on the job, you’re miserable due to your mentally unstable boss who believes you’re out to get her job.Seriously, I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried. They are actual examples I’ve heard from former clients. When I ask clients if they knew that something "wasn’t right," they confirm that they did. They can pinpoint the exact moment that their intuition spoke to them. But intuition is sometimes vague. It seems so inconsistent with what our heads are telling us that we question it. We ignore it because it’s not in line with the rest of the information we’ve got. It’s only a piece of the puzzle, and we just don’t know what to do with it Important helpful tips: Use a grocery cart to place all of the used newspaper in for later disposal.
