Casual Articles - Do You Have A Clear Conscience?
Student Credit Card - How To Choose The Right One of the Father. Why did Jesus sit down? His work was finished! Did you know that a priest could not sit in the holy of holies? There was no place for the high priest to sit down! The reason for this was that the work of the Old Testament priest was never finished. Priests in the Old Testament had to stand and offer sacrifices very often, but Jesus offered one sacrifice for our sins. That was for all time and forever, and then He sat down. What does this mean to us?Getting a student credit card is not hard to do. The problem comes in how it is used. Your student should not be carrying large sums of cash each month to get through the month. It could easily be lost or stolen. I had a friend that was considered a genius. While we were at school he couldn't remember from one day to the next what he had done the previous day, or where he put anything, including his money. Another friend constantly ran out of money by the middle of the month and was either borrowing form other students or on the phone crying to his father about needing more. Not to say I was a saint, but that is another story.< Hebrews 10 verse 13 tells us For by one offe What does the Bible have to say about the conscience in relation to Jesus and His work on the cross? Hebrews chapter 10:1-2 tells us For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. The children of Israel lived under the law. Once a year the high priest would confess his sins and the sins of the children of Israel over a sacrificial animal. In this way God passed over the sins of the people of Israel. The Bible tells us that these people were always conscious of their sin. The Bible also explains the weakness of the law in that the sacrifices it required could not cleanse people from guilt, once and for all. The word "conscience" is the Greek word "Suneidesis" which carries the meaning of "The soul as distinguishing between what is morally good and bad, prompting to do the former and shun the latter, commending one, condemning the other." The conscience is unique in that it applauds good behavior and condemns the wrong. I am sure we’ve all had the experience of doing something that we knew was wrong and then having our conscience remind us and condemn us for it. If we go down a few verses to Hebrews 10, verse 11 tells us And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God . . . Jesus offered one sacrifice for our sins and that was for ever. Afterwards He sat down at the right hand of the Father. Why did Jesus sit down? His work was finished! What does this mean to us? Hebrews 10 verse 13 tells us For by one offe Hebrews 10 verse 13 tells us For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Think about it. The law wasn’t able to make the children of Israel perfect, but the sacrifice of Jesus makes us perfect. By the sacrifice of Jesus we no longer hold a consciousness of sin! If the law could have made anyone perfect then they would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. The book of Hebrews is a parallel of the Old and New Covenants. The purpose of Hebrews is to show the superiority of the New Covenant over the Old, it shows us how Jesus is better than Moses. Today we live under a New Covenant! We are not under the old law-based covenant that the children of Israel lived under. We are under a new and better covenant. Living a guilt-free life before the Lord today is actually a normal Christian life. I'm afraid that many believers are not living a normal Christian life at all! I, myself, used to live under a cloud of condemnation and guilt, until I finally really heard and believed the good news that Jesus had removed my sins. Jesus finished the job. He took care of sin, once and for all. You never have to suffer under a load of guilt and sin. Through Jesus, God has justified you. Friend, if you are weighed down with a load of sin, then I would invite you to roll your feelings of guilt and condemnation over onto the Lord Jesus. Trust Him alone! When you truly believe that Jesus has removed your sins through His shed blood, you will walk in freedom from a condemning conscience!
