About 15 years ago we were traveling across Western Kansas on the interstate when we were stopped for speeding. I was the driver. I got out my license and went through the process. Many were stopped with a whole line of people waiting for their ticket. What was frustrating to me was I wasn’t even going the speed limit because of the line of red lights ahead all stopped in the right lane. I was thinking I was coming upon a pile up of cars, so I was going slowly.

The officer gave me a ticket for going 80 in a 70 mile zone. I attempted to tell him I wasn’t going more than 55-60, however, he told me I was clocked and to stop arguing. He had me sign the ticket. We went on to Colorado. When we got to the light where we could read the ticket, it said I was in a blue Chevy, even though I was in a mauve Oldsmobile, and the ticket said I was a M not a F!

I called the county and attempted to explain what happened. I didn’t get far, I was told to shut up and pay or there would be more fines added if the current ones were not paid on time. The incorrect auto description didn’t matter to them. Being Male or Female didn’t make any difference, I was the holder of the ticket, therefore, I was the owner and the responsible one to pay on time!!

This experience really brought up the feelings of dominator/dominated for me with our highway system of taking care of the speeders. Why would our system of corrections need to dominate in such a rude manor?

Have we noticed when one part of our society is dominated by a dominator the dominated become limited in what they can and can not do?
