As part of the permitting process, facilities must develop Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and identify Best Management Practices (BMPs) that will help reduce or eliminate discharges into waterways.
The steps taken to ensure that the pollution prevention plan works efficiently can be considered Best Management Practices or BMP’s. These practices include:
1) Maintenance procedures
2) Documented plans that are designed to effectively reduce or prevent discharge of pollutants into receiving waters.
