Eight Signs That You Should Change Jobs
People may be quick to tell you that you have a dream job. They see the nice house you live in and the new car in your driveway. You can pay your bills every month, and you have money left over to take trips for vacations or go out and buy your fabulous flat screen television (latest model, of course!).Yet, deep down, you know this isn't your dream job. It might have been so a few years ago, but now you may be feeling like that once-upon-a-time dream job has turned into a bit of a nightmare - and it's getting worse. Sure, it pays well, but, actually, you realize you hate your job. Time for something new and a change?Look at these top eight reaso

    Franchisee Associations, what are they?
Franchisee associations are unions. In the modern business world if a group of employees want to form a union and the employer doesn’t want it then the employer has a right to close the company. I believe franchisors ought to be allowed to put in the contract that if any franchisees get together and form a franchise association to use as collective bargaining power against the franchisor, other than an association approved by the franchisor, then the franchisor should have the right to terminate the franchise contract with all franchisees in that region immediately and shut down further operations under that brand name in that area indefinitely. When a sma
A few years ago I was sitting in my office at the hotel in which I worked wondering why it was 11:00 p.m. and I was still at work and not at home with my family. It was winter in Massachusetts – cold, dark and dreary. The Night Manager arrived about 11:30 p.m. and I drove home on desolate streets and crawled into bed exhausted. I had missed saying goodnight to my young daughter and my husband was peacefully snoring. I realized the best part of my life was happening without me being present – my family. The next day, I gave my boss four weeks notice and quit. I had no idea what I was going to do, but I knew I was done making business decisions for someone else and making other people (mainly my superiors) successful.

Luckily, an opportunity landed in my lap that I couldn’t pass up and I took the leap into entrepreneurship. I bought an in-home tutoring franchise. I cleared a spot in my hallway, set up a makeshift office and dove into the unknown. I was successful and owned my franchise for three years before I sold it. I gained wonderful experience but disliked being associated with a franchise and paying monthly royalty fees. My family moved to California, I had another child and founded my own tutoring company.

    Focus on Learning, Not Training
Nearly every organization I have ever worked for or with has a serious problem with training. They concentrate on training rather than learning. The first indication of a problem is that the mediums chosen to impart learning are the poorest at retaining learning but are the easiest to organise.Learning retention rates vary depending on the medium that is used to impart the learning. The usual training methods of lectures, reading, audio visual and demonstration (including role plays) have average retention rates of five, ten, twenty and thirty percent, respectively.A chief financial officer revising these numbers would not have an anticipa

Some are legitimate reasons. Some are not. In any event it is our job to defuse the situation. Here are a few tips on how you can calm your customer down and put them at ease.1. Life Coach – Helping People Achieve Their Dreams
Seldom does an opportunity come along where you can not only build a career for yourself but also make a huge difference in the lives of everyone you touch. There are not many professions where not only can you help yourself achieve your career and professional goals but you can help others reach where they want to be as well. Not many professions can give you the personal satisfaction that becoming a Life Coach does. Now the first question that comes to mind is – What is a Life Coach? To answer that question first you must realize that each person is different from the other. Everyone has their own set of goals and dreams to achieve. Not everyone

    Advertising: Friend, not Foe!
They say advertising is excessive: it interrupts TV series, preceding movie shows and dominating music award ceremonies. Some even lament that advertising not only occupies the media, but is also present everywhere else; the latest music editor softwares could be seen at bus shelters, and online VoIP products pictured in public telephone booths. It is irrelevant and disruptive. If you agree with my last sentence above, continue reading. You might decide to change your mind.First of all, I don’t think advertisers occupy the media. As a matter of fact, it is the media that courts companies, maybe except for over-popular

Four years later, after establishing myself in my community and being very successful, I decided to mentor others who wanted to take the plunge and own their own company. I wrote a book, packaged it with a website, customized accounting software and marketing materials, found myself a wonderful publicist and began selling my business packages via the internet. After only five months, I have surpassed my forecast of how many packages I would sell. I have been featured in a major women’s magazine and have five more articles lined up with other publications between now and April. Several years ago, I never thought I would be working from home, making excellent money and mentoring others on how to begin a home-based business.

The transition for me was easy, but it was a difficult decision. I gave up my medical benefits and the security of a full-time job and a regular paycheck. I gained financial independence and the ability to work from home and apply my twenty plus years in Corporate America to establishing two companies. When others call me about buying one of my business packages, these are the questions I tell them to ask themselves:

    1) Do you have enough financial security to survive for up to six months if you do not
