How Well Do You Know Them?
It is often said that it is not who you know that matters, it is who knows you. Well I would like to extend this statement by saying that it is not only who you know and who knows you, but how well do you know them and they you?In business, networking is the ultimate form of promotion. It can help you to obtain new clients, a new job, or even help you to move up the corporate ladder. It is the process of building relationships. Any time that you attend a meeting, trade show, or a social function, you are networking whether you realize it or not. It is the relationship that you have with people, a prospect or a client that makes the difference between success and failure.Often we fail to realize the reasons that we have for doing business with an individual or a company. In the case of products that we regularly buy, what helps us to make the buying decision? There are those that will buy a specific brand of product because they trust that brand to be of a high quality or durability. There are others that will make a buying decision based on price, although this is less frequently the case. Often we simply do business because we feel good about it. In fact most purchases or decisions to do business are based on two things. Trust and comfort. Trust is a very intangible emotion or feeling. How do you measure it? How do you develop it?Trust is measured by the feelings that are generated by a process of letting someone get to know more about you than just product, features and price. I kno

    Emerging Trends In Nursing Jobs
The nursing profession has witnessed tremendous changes in the last five decades. In this continually changing environment, it is important to study the trends in nursing jobs in order to determine a successful career path. Today the demand for Registered Nurses or RNs has increased considerably, because of two factors. Firstly, relatively less fresh enrolment down the years since the turn of the century along with retirements of extant RNs has led to a shortage of trained nurses. Secondly, there is an increase in a nurse's range of function, with rise in the number of the elderly due to improved healthcare systems and the introduction of community-based preventive projects.According to the Federal Bureau of Health professions, "In 2000, the National supply of FTE registered nurses was estimated at 1.89 million, while the demand was projected at 2 million, a shortage of 110,000, or 6 percent. Based on what is known about trends in the supply of RNs and their anticipated demand, the shortage is expected to grow relatively slowly until 2010, by which time it will have reached 12 percent". http://bhpr.hrsa.gov/healthworkforce/reports/rnproject/report.htm - chart1It is clearly a time for those interested in healthcare professions to join nursing, and those already working as qualified nurses to consider specialization. Pay hikes in the nursing industry in recent years are a good incentive, though the number of nurses existing is still short of that in demand. Some of the trends in the area of n
This is the story of a silly farmer. Actually, this person is not a "real" farmer yet, but wants to be one. You may have met someone like this farmer, or you may even be this future farmer. To protect the innocent, we will call our farmer-to-be, "Pat".

Pat is a regular person, just like you, or I. One day, like many, Pat decides to start a business. Now this would be Pat’s very first business, and Pat did not exactly grow up with a silver spoon in the mouth, if you know what I mean.

Pat decides to tell everyone in town all about the new business soon to be started.

Pat tells friends, family and even other existing farmers to get ready, because this is going to be HUGE.

Pat has come up with an idea that will revolutionize the farming industry and is SURE everyone will want to buy the new produce. Pat is actually bewildered why no one has thought of this or attempted this before as it will make MILLIONS and is yet, so obvious.

    Get Paid for Answering Surveys
Paid Surveys are an easy way to make money while sitting in front of your PC. As the term implies you simply take online surveys from various companies and in return they will pay you a regular cash incentive. Sounds easy doesn’t it? Actually it is. Many people have found this to be an easy, flexible way to boost their regular income, others do it as their only source of income as they prefer to work from home. An ideal example of this is for mothers with small babies who can still earn money but get the quality time they need with their new family. Why do these surveys exist? As we all know, companies trying to sell and promote products know that product research plays a vital role in sales success. When a new product is ready to be launched for sale, or even in the initial development processes, a company needs to ensure that what they are providing is exactly what the customer wants – demand and supply. By paying customers to fill in online surveys they can gather all the information and opinions together with suggestions for improvements to a particular product and use that information to build, create or to modify their product before it appears in the shops. This saves time and money for the company and ensures that the item is saleable and will make a profit. So are online surveys difficult to complete? Companies try to keep them as user friendly as possible to obtain the best results. Obviously the more people fill them in, the more opinions they have to do research with. Some also off

The Small Retailer's Survival Guide - Part 4 - Customer Service
If you are a struggling small store owner fighting for customers in the face of stiff competition then, for goodness sake, concentrate on customer service! This is one area of your offer where you need spend no (or very little) money to get it right. You are dealing with your fellow human beings who are willing to hand over some hard earned cash for your products, so treat them with respect.Disrespect"Of course I treat customers with respect", is what many shopkeepers will say. No you do not, or at least many of you do not. I know from personal experience, and so do thousands of others, that customers in shops are often treated as an inconvenience. They get in the way. They ask awkward questions. Sometimes they buy things and then complain. Worst still, others do not buy anything and still complain. Some customers treat your shop like a meeting place, others just buy one newspaper a week and nothing else. Some of you might say: "look, I do complain about customers, but never on the shop floor and always behind closed doors." Wrong! Do not treat customers with disrespect, even if they are out of earshot. Just.....do not treat customers with disrespect at all, anytime, anywhere.Customer Service not Lip ServiceI'll give you examples from two large companies where they have decided to instil a customer care culture throughout their organizations. Firstly Dell. Whether deserved or not they have had a bad reputation in the past with some customers. There are many rea

Build and Manage Successful Brands with BIOs (Brand Impression Opportunities)
What a fascinating time we live in; hundreds of new products enter the marketplace every day. More books are published each year than used to be published in entire decades. We have access to a seemingly endless availability of news, television and radio stations, communication devices, and information. This onslaught leaves marketers with what some see as an almost insurmountable task -- developing effective ways to break through the deluge of information and have their messages resonate with their target audiences. I, however, see this as an incredible opportunity. Since accomplishing this feat has become more difficult over the years, many companies do not bother to market as required by today's environment, or worse yet, they do not market at all. What better opportunity could a progressively-minded company ask for? With this tremendous opportunity comes a massive responsibility. When a company's message gets through the clutter and rings true in the target audience's ear, the company must not only uphold its promise at every contact it has with its customers, but it must also surpass that promise -- every time, by every employee, by every product, by every system. Indeed, if a positive brand impression is not made at every contact, the odds of the company's message effectively getting through to that prospect again are greatly diminished, and what was an advantage becomes a more-difficult-than-ever undertaking.Give thought to every way you and your company come into contact with yo

Competing For Top Talent In A Tight Labor Market
It’s no secret that it’s a buyer’s market out there right now and the buyers in this economy are job seekers, who are in a position to be very choosy when it comes to deciding which job they take and what sort of compensation they’re going to accept. As the job market tightens, there has been a monumental shift towards the candidate being in a controlling position of deciding what sort of job opportunity to take. Every company is looking for top talent in sales and marketing for their businesses to grow. And to the extent that they can find it and retain it, they can grow. In this tight job market, traditional recruiting techniques no longer work.If you are an employer looking to recruit top sales and marketing talent, consider some of the following innovative ways that you might go about recruiting people:Tap The Power of Your NetworkFirst of all, remember that the most important tool that you have at your disposal for finding top talent is your network. When you start thinking about hiring new sales and marketing people, plan and execute a communication strategy to all of your friends, associates, and colleagues throughout your inner circle, as well as all of your industry contacts. Develop a job posting for the positions that you’re looking for and send a personalized email with the attached posting to all everyone in your network. Ask each person personally for their help in recommending any individuals who would fit the specific position that you’re trying to fill. Ask e

Pat has saved as much money as possible, but only is able to come up with a very small amount. The amount Pat has, is a lot less than one would normally expect to pay to start a farm, but that does not stop Pat from being self-confident. Thinking positively, (and being proactive and not letting "negative people" dampen spirits), Pat decides to take all the money available and use as down payment buy a plot of land anyway.

After buying the land, Pat has enough money to buy only one packet of seeds and one shovel from the general store. Mind you Pat is venturing into the Farming Industry for the very first time, so with the exception of outside observance, Pat doesn't have much inside knowlege.

However, Pat DOES have a great idea, and feels that is more than enough, I mean after all, each of the greats like Edison, Einstien, Gates a
