    Resumes - What's Your Objective?
While screening candidate resumes at a recent SalesTrax Recruiting Event, I was struck by how many candidates had unknowingly undermined their interviews by what they had written in the opening paragraph, commonly known as the “objective statement” of their resume. Here are a few of them, and what they mean to a veteran sales recruiter:“To utilize my professional skills while learning new functions in a corporate setting. Also, to obtain a position which is rewarding and beneficia

Position Yourself In the Market and Cut Down on Unnecessary Advertising
Everyday I meet small business owners who delegate their marketing responsibilities to a third party and tell me “oh, our marketing guy handles that.”“Handle what?” I ask, then they usually tell me “oh our advertising and other stuff”.Whether you like it or not, whether you perform actively or passively, your business is always marketing. That’s not to say that you should “advertise” everyday. Customer Service - A Lost Art?
Is customer service a lost art? Before you answer that question, take a moment and think about the last few times you have gone shopping or out to dinner. The Do's and Dont's of Creating Lucrative Business Partnerships
I run a small meeting, event and conference planning company based in the New York City area. As an entrepeneur and small business owner with a limited advertising and marketing budget, developing business partnerships has been really helped me to get the word out about the services that I offer. For example, I have aligned myself with a DJ company as the preferred planner for their clients and am actively receiving business and referrals from this source. Also, due to my partnership with

Keep a ‘To Do List’ one that is running - a spiral notebook works great for this, as you complete an item mark it off. If an item no longer matters, mark it off.

Keep a daily ‘To Do List’ and schedule each activity into your day.

    #3 - Take a Day off

Work one less day a week. Or actually do NOT work one day a week. When you work from home you’re tempted to get on the computer and check email, or do some minor working chore on your ‘day off’. Don’t do that! Take a day off and don’t even think about work. Don’t take phone calls, don’t answer email, and above all Don’t think about work on that day.

Enjoy your day off. Play, take a bath, enjoy your family, kick back and watch movies all day, do something you would ordinarily NOT do in your work-a-day world and enjoy the day.
