*****Hero's True Nature*****

The first Near Death Experience (previous to meeting the Supernatural Aid) draws out the Hero's True Nature and this will often show itself as a new behaviour.

This is where the Hero takes an incremental step towards his (or her) New Self, but significant symbols - like a change of clothes - are not present yet.

*****Character Development*****

It is during Trial 2 that character development occurs most frequently. However, each aspect of character relates to Transformation on some level. In Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Bonnie recites her poetry, which will later be published and signify Clyde's Transformation.
