Everyone out there is telling you a different way to invest. Depending on the market, different strategies seem to make sense at different times. This is where many people go wrong.

Focus is one of the most important aspects of investing. In the first lesson, we learned bout investing goals. Now we need to work on our focus. Without focus, we try out different strategies. When we are trying different strategies, we periodically give our portfolio an overhaul. We sell every holding because it does not fit our strategy of the moment. Then we find a strategy that seems to make more sense and the cycle starts over again.
I know it happens, I've done it. But, it doesn't have to happen overnight. It can be a gradual shift from one strategy to another. One strategy is trading. This is simply trying to anticipate the short term moves in the market and trying to buy the securities before the move happens.
